On June 29, information from the Kien Giang Market Management Department, in the preliminary summary of the implementation of Plan 888 in the first 6 months of 2023, the unit discovered and handled 38 business establishments that openly sold goods in violation of counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin and infringement of intellectual property rights; fined 901,242,000 VND, the value of the infringing goods was 889,870,000 VND.
Pursuant to Decision No. 1172/QD-CQLTT dated December 15, 2022 of the Director of the Market Management Department (QLTT) of Kien Giang promulgating the Plan to combat and prevent counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin and goods infringing intellectual property rights in 2023.
In the first 6 months of 2023, Kien Giang Market Management Department directed Market Management Teams to closely follow the assigned goals and tasks of the year, proactively develop an implementation program suitable to actual conditions to complete the set goals.
Accordingly, the Market Management Teams under the Department have reviewed the area, monitored and grasped information on the situation of buying, selling, transporting and gathering goods of subjects with signs of violations.
Through that, traditional commercial establishments were inspected, 38 business establishments were discovered and handled for openly selling counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin and infringing intellectual property rights; fined 901,242,000 VND, the value of the infringing goods was 889,870,000 VND, in which the infringing goods were mainly fashion items such as glasses, shoes, handbags, ... in addition to some other goods such as fertilizer, wall putty, ...

In the coming time, Kien Giang Market Management Department will continue to closely follow the goals in Plan 1172, strengthen inspection, combat, and handle violations, step up screening, local statistics, propaganda, mobilize businesses to sign commitments, and monitor handled businesses to prevent re-offending.
At the same time, monitor and update the methods and tricks of violators, especially those doing business on social networking and e-commerce platforms.
