Building revolutionary ethical standards for cadres and party members

Attending the workshop were comrades: Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; comrades of the Party Central Committee, leaders of central departments, ministries, branches, mass organizations, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations; provincial, municipal and central party committees; experts, scientists, managers in the field of Party building...

Party members who do not regularly study, cultivate and practice their qualities will gradually lose themselves, lose their "original foundation" of revolutionary ethics.

In his opening speech at the workshop, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang stated that building the Party in terms of ethics and building revolutionary ethics for cadres and party members is a very important issue, one of the 10 tasks of Party building and rectification work and one of the core contents of Ho Chi Minh's thought. In his sacred Testament , he advised: Our Party is a ruling Party. Each party member and cadre must truly imbue revolutionary ethics... We must keep our Party truly clean, worthy of being a leader, a truly loyal servant of the people.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang said that, deeply imbued with the valuable and precious instructions of President Ho Chi Minh, in more than 93 years of leading the Vietnamese revolutionary cause, our Party has always paid attention to and focused on building the Party in terms of ethics, considering this a regular and continuous task; an important and urgent requirement in the work of building and rectifying the Party, so that our Party is truly clean, strong, ethical, civilized, an organization of elite people with steadfast political will; capable and prestigious enough to lead the people, worthy of the responsibility entrusted by the people.

According to comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, building, educating and fostering revolutionary ethics for cadres and party members is the core content of Party building in terms of ethics. Through the process of continuous learning, training and self-cultivation, our cadres and party members have continuously grown and matured in their ideological stance and political qualities, becoming beautiful and exemplary models of moral qualities and lifestyle; upholding the spirit of patriotism, enthusiastically taking the lead in production, study, work and combat, dedicating their enthusiasm, strength and intelligence to the revolutionary cause of the Party.

However, comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized that it is also necessary to face the truth that there are still a number of cadres and party members, even at high levels, who have degraded in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle, showing signs of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation", causing discontent, anxiety, and a decline in people's trust in the Party, the State, and the socialist regime. Practice shows that when cadres and party members do not regularly study, cultivate, and practice their qualities, they will gradually lose themselves, lose their "root foundation" of revolutionary morality, leading to degradation in political ideology; and that is a short, extremely dangerous step leading to "self-evolution" and "self-transformation".

Raising some orientational issues, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang suggested that delegates and scientists discuss some specific issues, continue to clarify the theoretical and practical basis, urgent requirements of building revolutionary ethical standards for cadres and party members; at the same time, propose solutions to implement the practice of revolutionary ethical standards for cadres and party members effectively, feasible and having a positive and widespread impact throughout the entire Party, the entire political system and the entire society.

Revolutionary ethical standards of cadres and party members must ensure revolutionary, scientific, universal, comprehensive, specific, concise, clear, easy to remember, easy to understand, easy to learn and follow.

At the workshop, delegates focused on discussing and clarifying the scientific basis for building revolutionary ethical standards for cadres and party members, in which it is necessary to take Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought on revolutionary ethical standards as the ideological foundation, worldview and methodology for building. Delegates analyzed and evaluated the current implementation of revolutionary ethical standards by cadres and party members, pointed out the causes and lessons learned, and on that basis proposed orientations and solutions for building and implementing revolutionary ethical standards for cadres and party members.

The presentations and opinions exchanged at the workshop emphasized the innovation of content, form and methods of revolutionary ethics education for cadres and party members in the new period; building a healthy cultural environment and fighting against backwardness, stagnation and degradation in political ideology, ethics and lifestyle... The development of revolutionary ethical standards for cadres and party members must ensure revolutionary, scientific, universal, comprehensive, specific, concise, clear, easy to remember, easy to understand, easy to learn, follow, easy to check and supervise, on that basis, propose to the Politburo and the Secretariat to promulgate and organize implementation among all cadres and party members.

Concluding the workshop, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia said that recently, the Central Propaganda Department conducted a survey of public opinion, and the vast majority of respondents emphasized: Building and implementing revolutionary ethical standards for cadres and party members in the new period is extremely necessary and important. There is a very encouraging compatibility in that many revolutionary ethical standards for cadres and party members synthesized from the results of the survey of public opinion basically coincide with the proposals of the delegates and scientists at this workshop.

Summarizing the content of the opinions and speeches at the workshop, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized the need to identify specific, clear, and easy-to-implement solutions for the revolutionary ethical standards of cadres and party members in the new period: Solutions on propaganda, education, unifying awareness, raising responsibility; solutions on mechanisms, policies, and laws; solutions on implementation organization; solutions on cadre work, party member work, inspection, supervision, and discipline enforcement; promoting the role of the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, and the people; solutions on self-education, self-cultivation, and training of young cadres and party members...

Through the workshop, it contributes to providing a reliable theoretical and practical basis, creating unity and raising awareness of building revolutionary ethical standards to contribute to building a contingent of cadres and party members with steadfast political ideology, moral qualities, a pure and exemplary lifestyle, with innovative thinking and aspirations; with capacity and prestige equal to the task, with an exemplary pioneering spirit in innovation, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility for the common good.
