Coming back to the Windows 11 24H2 CPU support list collected by Neowin , it is not only a guide for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers (ODMs), but also a reference for users looking for information about compatible CPUs.
New information from Microsoft helps PC users with 8th, 9th and 10th generation Intel CPUs 'feel lighter'
In the document, Microsoft has added several CPUs from the AMD Ryzen 8000 series. What is surprising and worrying is that some Intel SKUs are left out of the list, even though they meet the minimum system requirements for Windows 11 version 24H2. Specifically, Intel 8th, 9th, and 10th generation CPUs are not on the list, leading to speculation that Microsoft may not support new systems using these CPUs.
Error in Windows 11 24H2 support list
In response to media reports and speculation, Microsoft has updated the list and provided an explanation. According to Microsoft's notes, the page will be updated periodically to reflect Intel CPUs that meet the minimum system requirements for Windows 11. The most recent update on February 13 added Intel 8th, 9th, and 10th generation CPUs, and reclassified some models to support Windows 11.
More importantly, Microsoft has confirmed that much of the media speculation was incorrect, admitting that it was wrong to omit Intel's 8th, 9th, and 10th-generation CPUs. However, the minimum system requirements remain unchanged, which is clearly a relief to users as many will still be able to use new systems with these chips.
Interested users can check out the list of supported CPU models for Windows 11 24H2 on Microsoft's website.
