iMessage users' frustrations remain unresolved
According to many users, when sending AVIF images via iMessage, the images will not display properly but only appear in a small window, unable to be enlarged. This makes it very difficult to view and share images, especially when AVIF is an effective image compression format, popular with many people.
This bug appears on both iOS and macOS, leaving users wondering why AVIF images still display normally in message previews and in Safari and Photos apps.
The fact that Apple has supported the AVIF format in Safari since iOS 16, more than two years ago, raises further questions about iMessage 'forgetting' this format. Users are hoping that Apple will soon fix the bug to bring a more complete iMessage experience.
“It’s weird and annoying to send an image that can’t be viewed properly,” one user shared, “Hopefully Apple will fix this soon.”
