Garden for technical training for ethnic minorities
(QBĐT) - The Center for Vocational Education and Continuing Education (VET) of Minh Hoa district has implemented a scientific and technological task: "Building a garden to serve training in practical techniques for planting and caring for fruit trees of high economic value for ethnic minorities in mountainous areas".

Completed a model orchard serving training in practical techniques for planting and caring for fruit trees in Minh Hoa district.
Accordingly, on an area of 0.5 hectares, the unit has conducted a trial planting of 64 red-fleshed green-skinned grapefruit trees and 88 Thai jackfruit trees; at the same time, organized a training course to guide the planting techniques of red-fleshed green-skinned grapefruit trees and Thai jackfruit trees for 30 ethnic minority students in Minh Hoa district; completed the technical process of planting and caring for fruit gardens suitable to the natural conditions in the district.

After 16 months of planting, the survival rate of grapefruit trees reached 100%, and that of Thai jackfruit trees reached 98.9%, exceeding the set target. During the trial implementation, some pests and diseases appeared on the trees, but the rate was low.

Deputy Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Vocational Training of Minh Hoa District, Cao Minh Duc, said: This is a task and scientific basis that contributes to improving the scientific research capacity and professional qualifications of the center's staff and teachers in improving the quality of teaching and learning; it is a new direction in training agricultural techniques for people in mountainous areas.
Thereby, helping people master practical skills, cope with adverse conditions and apply science and technology to production, renovate mixed gardens into well-planned gardens, invest in sowing quality crops, suitable for the soil, achieving high economic value.
