To add more perspective to READERS WORKING IN JOURNALISM, Tuoi Tre Online would like to introduce this article.

No mischief, no student!

I used to stand on the podium and was also in charge of a senior class with nearly 60 students.

My class also registered for competition, there were also poor students, problem students (a common term when I was in class), and there were also many students who talked and caused trouble during class.

During many lessons, every time I turned my back to write on the blackboard, the whole class turned into a market. There were even male students sitting at the back of the class teasing each other and then fighting while I was teaching.

My class also had students who not only did not know the multiplication tables but were also "blind" to addition and subtraction, let alone multiplication and division, even though they were in the final grade of elementary school.

I also had teachers in adjacent classes complain: "Mr. T's class is like a market, affecting Mr. A's and Ms. B's classes."

I also had initiatives to stabilize the class, but at first it was good, then it was all ineffective.

And I also received a letter from the secretary of the People's Committee of My Le commune, Can Duoc district (Long An province) PDK, who wrote permission: "Teacher, please beat T. - this disobedient grandson of mine who doesn't listen to me. Thank you very much, teacher."

But for T. and many other rebellious students, I could not do as his grandfather said.

One is that I can't bear it, two is that I'm haunted by someone's saying: There are no stupid students, no naughty students, but only teachers who don't understand the thoughts, feelings, aspirations and more importantly, the psychology of students.

Honestly, at that time I didn't feel sad, but I was always racking my brains to find a way to "eliminate" the problem of students "talking and causing trouble" in class and to help the problem students who were "herded" from lower grades to upper grades every year.

Must make children passionate about learning

I discovered a core reason why students do not study well is because they are not passionate about learning.

I think that is the main reason for many problems in class.

I think that only love, understanding, tolerance and generosity, and if necessary, myself for the children to bring them to the passion for learning, can solve everything.

With that determination, I started to "get closer" to the children. I went to school earlier, and during recess I didn't go to the office like other teachers, but stayed with the children.

Sometimes I sit in class and talk to the students: "Whoever doesn't know how to add, subtract, multiply, or doesn't know the multiplication table... take out a piece of scrap paper and I'll teach you."

At first, there were only a few students, but then almost all the students who did not know their lessons or did not know how to do math came to me on their own. They came to me naturally and enthusiastically.

Of course, even though we were so close, I was sometimes criticized by the principal: "It's good for the school to be close to the people and for the students to be close to the teachers, but I'm afraid that one day the teachers will be too close to the students and the students won't be able to be teachers."

Just over 2 months later, my 5/3 grade results surprised the entire Rach Dao Primary School board and the entire school. Principal PTĐ. said: "You did something I never thought possible!"

At the end of the year, the results of grade 5/3 for the 1983-1984 school year exceeded my expectations.

Until now, every time the media talks about "students sitting in the wrong class", I never forget this "imprint".

Teaching is always a special profession compared to many other professions, so it requires noble qualities that sometimes other professions do not need.

In my opinion, there are 4 fundamental issues in the education sector that need to be clarified:

- Has the industry leadership team changed its management thinking?

- Is there slow change in training, development and appropriate remuneration policies for teachers?

- Is there any unnecessary pressure being put on teachers beyond their expertise?

- How does the industry arouse the "heart" of teachers?

As long as the teaching profession still brings passion to many people, as long as teacher training schools are a "barrier" that is difficult to overcome for those who want to pursue the profession, then our education will no longer have the story of "6th graders who can barely read".
