The Command of Coast Guard Region 3 in coordination with the Department of Education and Training of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has just organized a direct provincial round of the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands" for the 2025-2026 school year. The contest is for secondary school students in coastal districts and cities of the province, aiming to spread the love of the sea and islands and raise awareness of national sovereignty for the younger generation. This is also an activity chosen by the Command of the Vietnam Coast Guard as a point to deploy nationwide.
Lieutenant General Bui Quoc Oai, Party Secretary, Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard, along with representatives of leaders of agencies, units, localities and a large number of teachers, students and parents attended and cheered for the contest.

In his opening speech, Colonel Le Van Tu, Political Commissar of Coast Guard Region 3, emphasized that over the years, the Vietnam Coast Guard has always attached importance to the propaganda work about the sea and islands for the young generation, especially students, through many rich and vivid forms. The contest "I love the sea and islands of my homeland" is one of the typical activities, held in 35 provinces and cities with the participation of more than 100,000 students, becoming a useful playground, contributing to educating awareness and responsibility for protecting the sovereignty of the sacred sea and islands of the Fatherland.
Promoting the effectiveness of the contest, on September 3, 2024, the Minister of National Defense signed Decision No. 3934/QD-BQP approving the Project to organize the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands" nationwide for the period 2024-2030 and the following years. Accordingly, the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 coordinated with the Department of Education and Training of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to organize a pilot contest to gain experience for the implementation of the Project.

In the provincial live competition round, the 100 best contestants selected from more than 42,000 contestants participating in the online competition round competed enthusiastically in the form of Golden Bell with 4 parts: "Going Out to Sea", "Crossing the Waves", "Arriving at the Port" and "Setting Sovereignty Markers". The questions focused on knowledge about Vietnam's seas and islands; the Vietnam People's Army and Coast Guard; Vietnam's Law on the Sea; Vietnam's Coast Guard Law; regulations on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing; and knowledge about local history, culture and geography.

At the end of the contest, contestant Hua Bao Tran, a student of grade 8-5, Nguyen An Ninh Secondary School, Vung Tau City, won the first prize. The organizing committee also awarded 20 second, third and encouragement prizes to contestants with high achievements.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee awarded 20 bicycles and 50 Vu A Dinh scholarships, each worth 1 million VND, to students in difficult circumstances who have excelled in their studies.

The best candidates of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province will continue to participate in the regional round at Military Region 7, scheduled to be held in March 2026.
