Vinh Huu strives to launch an advanced new rural commune in 2023

Vinh Huu commune is located in the South of Go Cong Tay district, Tien Giang province, is one of the important central communes of the district in terms of socio-economic development, national defense and security.

FOCUS ON COMPLETING UNMET CRITERIA

Vinh Huu Commune is located at the headwaters of the Go Cong Sweetening Project, with Canal 14 running through it, which is favorable for agricultural production. After achieving the new rural standards in 2016, Vinh Huu Commune has focused all resources and promoted solidarity, determined to improve the quality of the criteria, achieved and focused on completing the unachieved criteria, to launch the advanced NTM on schedule and move towards achieving the advanced NTM standards in 2023.

Every year, the Commune Party Committee issues a Resolution to lead the implementation of the national target program on building new rural areas, from which it plans to organize propaganda, integrate through training sessions and seminars from programs and projects on science and technology transfer in cultivation, animal husbandry, etc. Through training sessions, people better understand the content and significance of building new rural areas in general and building advanced new rural areas in particular. From there, people actively participate in donating land, contributing money, working days to build roads, alleys, and hamlets to build new rural areas. The purpose of building advanced new rural areas is to continuously improve the material and spiritual life of the people.

Vinh Huu Commune Health Station is invested in a spacious, clean and beautiful manner, meeting the needs of people for medical examination and treatment.

Pursuant to Decision 1981 dated July 19, 2022 of the People's Committee of Tien Giang province on promulgating the National Criteria Set for New Rural Communes and the National Criteria Set for Advanced New Rural Communes for the period 2022-2025 in Tien Giang province, the Standing Committee of the Vinh Huu Commune Party Committee issued Resolution 56 on "Focusing on leading the implementation of the work of building a commune that meets advanced new rural standards in 2023"; At the same time, coordinate with the government, the Fatherland Front, and mass organizations to implement the plan to build advanced new rural areas in 2023. Secretary of the Commune Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Thung said: “Based on the targets, tasks, and 19 advanced new rural criteria, the Party Committee and the Steering Committee for building new rural areas of the commune have assigned specific tasks to cadres and civil servants in the whole commune regarding the content and implementation roadmap. Up to now, Vinh Huu commune has completed 11/19 advanced new rural criteria, and needs to complete 8 unachieved criteria including: Planning; Traffic; Education; Information and communication; Labor; Production organization and rural economic development; Legal access; Environment. These are all criteria that require large investment from the State, the remaining workload is very heavy, requiring the drastic participation of the entire political system and the people”.

STRENGTHENING INVESTMENT ATTRACTION, DEVELOPING INDUSTRY - SMALL INDUSTRY

Recognizing the importance of organizing production and developing agricultural economy in building advanced new rural areas, the commune focuses on developing a plan for developing key commodities of the commune in conjunction with restructuring the agricultural sector according to the planning; increasing investment attraction, developing industry - handicrafts, rural occupations and developing 9 OCOP products that meet 4-star standards. Currently, Binh Quy High-tech Agricultural Cooperative applies high technology in the production of medicinal vegetables, composting, with VietGAP certification... In 2022, the commune implemented a project to link the consumption of Siamese coconut and grapefruit, combining with Thabico Tien Giang Food Industry Joint Stock Company to implement a model of 100 hectares of organic coconut...

With the motto "The State and the people work together", many people in the commune have actively contributed money and labor to expand and upgrade rural roads, serving the needs of travel, daily life, production, transportation and consumption of agricultural products of the people. Up to now, Vinh Huu commune has had 100% of hamlet and inter-hamlet roads hardened and maintained annually; 100% of commune roads are maintained annually to ensure bright - green - clean - beautiful and have necessary items according to regulations.

In addition, departments, branches and organizations from commune to hamlet regularly propagate and mobilize members, association members and people to actively respond, compete and register for specific tasks; establish self-management models on the environment, plant more flower and tree routes; renovate public areas, create a green, clean and beautiful environment... Up to now, the Fatherland Front and commune organizations have built models such as: 1 camera model, 2 flower route models, 1 waste classification model, 3 street light models; at the same time, the Fatherland Front and departments, branches and organizations of the commune have organized propaganda and improved the quality of criteria for building advanced new rural areas in 72 meetings with 1,677 participants, mobilizing 3,464/3,464 households to classify and treat waste at source. From the beginning of 2023 until now, the commune's Propaganda Subcommittee has propagated 7 sessions with 192 people participating.

Currently, 2/5 of the commune’s hamlets do not have a cultural house. It is known that the commune’s cultural house is preparing to invest in public welfare works, not only to meet the needs of community activities, forming many regularly operating art and sports clubs, but also to raise people’s awareness of preserving common property and protecting the environment.

In addition to building rural infrastructure, the commune also promotes economic development. Currently, the commune has 31 industrial and handicraft establishments, 298 commercial and service establishments operating in production and business; 1 cooperative; 2 cooperative groups; 2 livestock and poultry farms; 1 broom-binding craft village providing stable jobs for 85 members. Therefore, Vinh Huu commune's economy is increasingly developing, with an average income of 66.11 million VND/person at the end of 2022. It is estimated that by 2023, the average income per capita will reach 68.79 million VND/person/year.

Poverty reduction work has always been of interest to the locality, through programs, projects, organizing vocational training classes, providing knowledge, transferring science and technology, supporting loans for poor households and checking the use of loans for the right purposes. Support policies, along with the efforts of each poor and near-poor household, have contributed to the good implementation of poverty reduction work in the area. By the end of 2022, the rate of poor and near-poor households in the commune is 54/3,464 households, accounting for 1.55%.

In economic development, with the strength of agricultural production, in recent years, with the attention and direction of the Party Committee and local authorities, many typical products of the commune, especially potential products such as rice, coconut... have been gradually invested in, linking to build product value chains. Organizing and mobilizing farmers to apply well the technical process of "3 reductions, 3 increases"; promoting and expanding models of growing vegetables of all kinds; converting ineffective rice growing areas to growing vegetables. Regarding livestock, the commune focuses on developing livestock and poultry.

The movement to build advanced new rural areas in Vinh Huu commune is receiving support with high determination and positive response from the majority of people, along with the participation of Party committees, authorities, departments, branches, and organizations from the commune to the hamlets, creating a combined strength. We believe that the Party Committee, authorities, and people of Vinh Huu commune will successfully build an advanced new rural commune in 2023.
