VinFuture 2023 receives many nominations for artificial intelligence applications

The VinFuture Global Science and Technology Prize 2023 has officially closed its nomination portal with 1,389 applications. The number of partners nominating the VinFuture Prize 2023 has increased more than 4 times compared to the first season.

According to the Organizing Committee, at VinFuture season 3, 20% of the nominating partners are authors in the top 2% of the most cited researchers in the world. These are nominations from scientists and prestigious organizations from more than 90 countries and territories across 6 continents.

Leading the number of nomination partners for the VinFuture Prize Season 3 are scientists from the Americas (30.3%), followed by Asia (28.6%), Africa (9.5%) and Oceania (6.8%). Notably, the proportion of nomination partners from Europe has increased by 24.8%, 1.5 times higher than in 2022.

The VinFuture Prize's nominating partners come from the world's leading universities and research institutes such as Harvard University, Stanford University, University of Pennsylvania, the University of California system, Johns Hopkins University (USA), Max Planck Institute (Germany), Cambridge University, Oxford University (UK), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), University of Tokyo (Japan), Yonsei University (Korea), Monash University (Australia)...

VinFuture 2023 also recorded more diversity than the first two seasons. The nominations covered many essential fields such as medicine and health care, energy, environment, agriculture, climate change and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in many industries... All projects promise great potential for development and help the daily lives of millions of people.

Dr. Le Thai Ha, Executive Director of VinFuture Prize, shared: “ The VinFuture Prize season 3 has received widespread acclaim and support from the international scientific community. The number of nominating partners has increased more than 4 times, from nearly 1,200 partners in the first season to more than 5,264 partners this year. This affirms the growing prestige of the Prize in the global scientific community, emphasizing its role as a driving force for scientific development .”

With the mission of "Science serving humanity", VinFuture season 3 nominations all meet the criteria of clearly demonstrating the positive impact they have brought or clearly demonstrating the potential to bring positive changes to the lives of millions of people.

In addition, many nominations are in new fields such as inventions supporting groups of people with disabilities, neurological diseases - cancer, models for controlling material properties, quantum computing, new energy sources, cost-optimized high-tech materials and devices...

The 2023 VinFuture Prize Preliminary Round will take place from June 1 to September 16. The 12-member Preliminary Council will evaluate the nominations based on a rigorous review process and the highest international standards, to ensure scientific, fair and transparent evaluation.

Core evaluation criteria include the level of advancement in science and technology, the positive impact on human life, as well as the scale and sustainability of the project.
