To ensure safety and security in online payments, promote sustainable development of cashless payments and protect customers' rights, the State Bank has issued many circulars and decisions regulating related contents.

Accordingly, from January 1, 2025, payment account holders/bank card holders will not be able to make online transactions and withdraw money using QR codes at ATMs if they have not updated their biometric information. Customers who have not updated their valid Identity Document (CC/CCCD with chip) will have their financial transactions on all channels (counter, online, ATM) suspended.

Understanding the importance of biometric authentication for customer benefits, Vietcombank Hoi An has proactively implemented a series of measures to support the information update process to take place smoothly and quickly.

Since June 2024, following the direction of the Head Office, Vietcombank Hoi An has proactively communicated to customers about the State Bank's regulations on updating biometrics and identification documents through many channels including: Placing notice boards at transaction points; bank communication channels such as social networks, websites; sending emails, OTT; notifications (pop-ups) when customers log in to VCB Digibank; information through newspapers; on ATM screens nationwide; notifying businesses paying salaries through Vietcombank Hoi An to inform officers, employees, and workers, and coordinating with businesses to organize the updating of biometric information.

To support customers in updating information, from November 23, 2024 to January 15, 2025, Vietcombank Hoi An and its affiliated transaction points will serve customers from 8:00 to 18:30 from Monday to Friday and from 8:00 to 17:30 on weekends. To date, Vietcombank Hoi An has had more than 30,000 customers (more than 90% of customers using the VCB Digibank application) complete the update of biometric information.

For customers, biometrics help increase security for online transactions, minimizing the risk of criminals exploiting personal information to commit illegal acts. At the same time, customers also experience the superior utilities of digital banking, such as fast money transfer, online bill payment, and effective personal financial management.

For Vietcombank Hoi An, the successful implementation of biometric services not only affirms its pioneering position in the field of digital transformation but also contributes to enhancing the bank's reputation in the hearts of customers.
