This is Mr. Nick Clegg's first visit to Vietnam as Chairman of Meta. Before taking on the role of Meta's leader, Mr. Nick Clegg spent 20 years working in Europe and the UK. Sharing with reporters, the Chairman of Meta said that from now until the end of the year, Meta will deploy an artificial intelligence (AI) virtual assistant for businesses in Vietnam. The AI ​​assistant will be integrated into the Messenger application, which businesses can use to interact with customers, thereby improving productivity. Mr. Nick Clegg also confirmed that Meta's Quest 3S wearable device (VR virtual reality glasses) will be manufactured in Vietnam. " We will coordinate with domestic partners to manufacture Quest 3S in Vietnam. This operation will create more than 1,000 new jobs, placing Vietnam at the center of the world map of metaverse (virtual universe) products and technologies, ” said Mr. Nick Clegg.

During his visit to Vietnam, Meta Vice President also announced that he would deploy Meta AI, an AI assistant capable of interacting and talking like a human. Meta AI will be integrated into Meta platforms such as Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp... users can ask questions and receive answers as if they were talking to a human. Vietnam will be one of the pioneering countries in deploying Meta AI, much earlier than some European countries. " We have not deployed Meta AI in Europe, but will deploy it in Vietnam in Vietnamese, completely free of charge for users ", Meta Vice President shared. According to Mr. Nick Clegg, the three commitments mentioned above demonstrate Meta's trust in Vietnam, in the online market that is developing very dynamically in Vietnam, as well as confidence in Vietnam's successful development in the future. When asked to compare Vietnam's digital economy with other countries in the region, Vice President of Meta said that Vietnam is currently a leading country because it has three basic and important elements: a young population, a good education foundation and the ability to effectively use digital technologies in daily life. " We can only use AI well if we understand it, and we can only understand it when we have a good education and training foundation. This is why Meta focuses on implementing courses and teaching about AI ," said Mr. Nick Clegg. At the same time, he also said that Meta will cooperate with Hanoi National University to build courses on AI capacity for students, to be implemented from January 2025. Sharing about the environment, Mr. Nick Clegg said that Meta is very confident in the investment environment in Vietnam.
