The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that at the reception, the two sides agreed that, after the very successful visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in October 2022, the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries of Vietnam and China maintained a positive development momentum and achieved many new results.
High-level and all-level exchanges and contacts have taken place closely, cooperation in all fields, especially economics and trade, has grown, and exchanges between localities and people of the two countries are increasingly vibrant.

President Vo Van Thuong emphasized the profound symbolic significance of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to Lang Son province and planting a "Friendship Tree" at the Friendship International Border Gate in August, thereby educating future generations to always remember the friendship and solidarity between the two countries.
According to the President, Vietnam and China are close neighbors, have many similarities in history and culture, and are both persistently moving towards socialism under the leadership of the Communist Party.
The friendship between "both comrades and brothers" that was painstakingly cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh, President Mao Zedong of China, and previous leaders of the two countries is the common asset of the two Parties, two countries, and two peoples. The Party, State, and people of Vietnam always consider relations with China a strategic choice, a top priority in Vietnam's overall foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed that China attaches importance to the friendly neighborly relationship and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, always considering this a priority direction in China's overall neighborly diplomacy policy; always supporting Vietnam to successfully carry out industrialization and modernization, moving towards realizing the vision, goals and aspirations for development as determined by the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

To further deepen the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the coming time, the President suggested that both sides strengthen and perform well high-level exchanges and contacts; effectively implement cooperation between the two countries; and continue to promote the role of the bilateral cooperation steering committee.
Strengthen cooperation in important areas such as diplomacy, defense, and security; improve the quality and effectiveness of substantive cooperation in all areas, focusing on economics, trade, investment, and transportation; enhance people-to-people exchange, and consolidate the good social foundation of bilateral relations.
Regarding the East Sea issue, the President suggested that both sides implement the high-level common perception, better control and resolve disagreements at sea, put themselves in each other's shoes, respect each other's legitimate and legal interests, in accordance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and jointly build the East Sea into a sea of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed his agreement that the two sides should continue to implement the high-level common perception; effectively deploy specific cooperation measures identified at the 15th meeting of the Vietnam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation; promote further deepening cooperation in various fields between the two countries; properly control and handle disagreements at sea, and continuously develop the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in a healthy and stable manner, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.
