Impressions of Cua Hien beach
Dien Trung commune has nearly 7km of coastline, of which Cua Hien beach alone is more than 1km long, forming an arc at the foot of Mo Da mountain extending to Nghi Yen commune (Nghi Loc district).
The first impression when visitors come to Cua Hien beach is the dark brown rock beach running along the beach as far as the eye can see. Locals call it Ngu Hai beach because from afar, the waves continuously crash into the rocky shore, creating white foam, the rock beach looks like a school of fish struggling in shallow water. Coming closer, visitors will see miniature landscapes on the rock beach that look like castles made of layers of rocks stacked on top of each other. The rocks are shaped like fairies, chess boards... with strange and funny shapes that are easy to see.
Coming out of the rocky strip with small trails is the beach with smooth, flat sand, clear blue water, and continuous waves. Even if you go hundreds of meters away, the sea level is still moderately deep, very suitable for swimming. What is special is that Cua Hien beach area is the only place in Nghe An without Lao wind. The sea breeze, pine forest on Mo Da mountain and the stream have created a poetic, peaceful beauty, fresh and cool climate in Cua Hien area.
Therefore, during the beach tourism season from May to July onwards, while other coastal areas in Nghe An are subject to intense heat and sultry climate, Cua Hien beach becomes an ideal place for tourists to escape the heat and enjoy the gentle, cool air thanks to the continuous sea breeze blowing inland.
In addition, visitors can participate in experiential activities, explore the rocky beach, fly kites and immerse themselves in the life and culture of the coastal village residents. At any time of the day, visitors can see dozens of rafts of fishermen in the coastal village going in and out of the port or anchoring, resting on the beach, bobbing with the waves.
Cua Hien Beach is known to tourists because this place is also associated with legends and myths. Legend has it that this beach is where the father and daughter of Thuc Phan An Duong Vuong and My Chau stopped on their way to escape the enemy. Cua Hien Beach is the origin of the pearl legend that cleared My Chau's name. The road hugging Mo Da Mountain running along Cua Hien Beach used to be the "goose feather road", where Thuc Phan An Duong Vuong's horse hooves ran. The temple of Thuc Phan An Duong Vuong today is Cuong Temple, located on Mo Da Mountain, next to the North-South highway, National Highway 1A, about 1 km from Cua Hien Beach. The temple has a Tam-shaped architecture, with 3 buildings: Thuong, Trung, Ha, surrounded by many ancient trees, very ancient and sacred.
Among the 8 beautiful landscapes of "Dong Yen Nhi Chau" (the land of the ancient Yen Thanh commune), 6 beautiful landscapes belong to Dien Chau district. Cua Hien beach is related to 2 of these beautiful landscapes, including: Da Son Linh Tich (Sacred Mark of Mo Da Mountain) and Cao Xa Long Cuong (Cao Xa Dragon Mound). The sacred mark of Mo Da Mountain is where Cuong Temple is located, worshiping An Duong Vuong. Cao Xa Dragon Mound is a strip of sea scallop dunes with high dunes, 4 - 6m deep in the ground, stretching from the south of the foot of Mo Da Mountain to Bung River (Ngoc Bich Commune), occupying about 2/3 of the length of Dien Chau district.
Early awakening of potential
According to the leader of Dien Trung commune, Cua Hien beach is about 30 km from the center of Vinh city (Nghe An), located in the system of beautiful and famous beaches of the province and very close to Cua Lo beach (Vinh city), Bai Lu beach (Nghi Loc district), Dien Thanh beach (Dien Chau district). Currently, the Nghi Son (Thanh Hoa) - Cua Lo (Nghe An) coastal road project is completed, connecting these beaches into one route, creating more ideal conditions for local authorities to exploit the potential and strengths of sea tourism at Cua Hien beach.
Over the years, along Cua Hien beach at the foot of Mo Da mountain, wind shops have been built by individual households to provide food and beverage services. Enjoying seafood specialties on sturdy huts right next to the sea at wind shops and restaurants always gives visitors a sense of excitement.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoan, a tourist from Thanh Hoa, said that overall, the beach here is quite beautiful. He was very impressed when walking along the beach, exploring the long strip of rocks running in an arc shape close to the water's edge. The air here is very cool. Especially, he can enjoy seafood with his family such as crab, squid, snails... very fresh and delicious.
Many visitors here are impressed by the hospitality, attentive service of the restaurant and cafe staff. The fact that visitors are given free fresh water after swimming in the sea creates a "winning" factor at Cua Hien beach.
Every year, when the beach tourism season begins (from April onwards), restaurant and cafe owners at Cua Hien beach renovate and renew the landscape, huts, seafood tanks, and oxygen jet systems to prepare fresh seafood to serve tourists.
However, due to lack of investment in synchronous and systematic exploitation, Cua Hien beach still lacks important items such as: Parking area for vehicles, especially cars for tourists is still inadequate; there are no accommodation facilities in and around the beach area, so it cannot retain tourists for long. Most of the tourist groups coming here only stay for a short time during the day and then leave. The tourism environment still lacks a code of conduct...
