At the end of the trading session on April 11, Vingroup's VIC stock hit the ceiling for the second consecutive session, reaching VND65,100/share. While most stocks on the Vietnamese stock market have fallen by double digits since April 2, VIC rose 8% to its highest level in 19 months.

According to the latest update from Forbes, the assets of Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors (BOD) of Vingroup reached 8 billion USD, ranking 361st among the richest people in the world, an increase of 400 million USD compared to April 2 and an increase of 3.6 billion USD since the beginning of the year.

Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong directly owns 691.3 million VIC shares and indirectly holds them through private companies such as Xanh SM, VMI or Vietnam Investment Group. He also holds a large amount of VinFast shares through private companies.

At one point, this billionaire was in the top 30 richest people in the world with assets of more than 44 billion USD when VinFast was listed on the Nasdaq in August 2023. After that, Forbes changed the calculation formula and announced that Mr. Vuong's assets were 6.7 billion USD on August 31, 2023.

Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong is also the only Vietnamese billionaire whose assets have increased since April 2 - the day US President Donald Trump announced the imposition of reciprocal import tariffs on more than 180 trading partners. However, by April 9, Mr. Trump had postponed the imposition of tariffs on a number of "non-retaliatory" countries, including Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Masan Group, has not appeared on Forbes' billionaire list since the end of March 2024 due to the decline of MSN shares. Since the beginning of the year, MSN's market price has decreased by nearly 19%.

Thaco Chairman Tran Ba Duong is no longer recognized by Forbes as having a billion-dollar fortune. Thus, Vietnam has only 4 billionaires at the present time.
