On March 17, Governor of Russia's Belgorod province Vyacheslav Gladkov said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked six settlements in the province.

Announcing on the Telegram channel, Mr. Gladkov said, according to initial information: "Six settlements were attacked by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. There are currently no casualties."
In another development, writing on the Telegram channel the same day, the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin said that three civilians, including two employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, were injured as a result of attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) in the Gorlovka district.
According to Mr. Pushilin, there were about 10 attacks carried out by the Ukrainian armed forces, using 155 mm artillery, cluster bombs and an attack drone.
Meanwhile, on the same day, RIA news agency reported that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha informed that the country is establishing a group to monitor compliance with the 30-day ceasefire with Russia proposed by the US.
The statement was made in the context of a meeting between US and Ukrainian delegations in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah on March 11, in which Kiev agreed to Washington's ceasefire proposal.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also agreed on March 13 to a ceasefire, but stressed that it must lead to lasting peace and address the root causes of the conflict. The Russian leader also mentioned issues that need to be carefully studied by both sides, including which side will order the ceasefire and monitor Ukraine's compliance with the agreement.
In another development, also on March 17, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that he had invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to attend the Group of Seven (G7) Summit, scheduled to take place at the Kananaskis resort, Alberta, Canada from June 15-17.
The new Canadian Prime Minister made it clear that Ottawa will continue to provide comprehensive support to Kiev.
