Admission to specialized high schools: Literature and Math can be registered for two wishes

Condition

Students applying to Hoang Le Kha High School for the Gifted must have their training results and academic results for the entire school year of junior high school classes classified as good or higher.

The secondary school where the student is studying and the Department of Education and Training are responsible for organizing the examination of the application documents to Hoang Le Kha High School for the Gifted to ensure they are valid and meet the admission requirements according to regulations.

Students who meet the requirements can apply to Hoang Le Kha High School for the Gifted, regardless of their place of residence.

Entrance exam

Students taking the entrance exam to Hoang Le Kha High School for the Gifted must take the exam. three non-major subject exams, including Literature, Math and English, plus one Specialized subject exam among Literature , Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information Technology, English, History.

Exam format and exam time

According to the admission regulations, the non-specialized subject exam (coefficient 1) includes three subjects: Literature 120 minutes, Math 120 minutes, English 60 minutes.

Specialized subject exams (coefficient 2) include: Literature (150 minutes), Math (150 minutes), Physics (150 minutes), Chemistry (150 minutes), Biology (150 minutes), English (150 minutes, with listening part), History (150 minutes), Information Technology (150 minutes) computer programming test.

Register your application

Each student can register for one choice to enter a specialized class. Students taking the specialized Literature exam can register for one more choice to enter a specialized History class (using the admission score for the specialized Literature class to be considered for the specialized History class).

Students taking the specialized Math exam can register for one more wish to enter the specialized IT class (using the admission score for the specialized Math class to consider the specialized IT class). This wish for the specialized History class or the specialized IT class will only be considered in the case that the specialized History class or the specialized IT class has less than 20 students admitted.

The application for admission to Hoang Le Kha High School for the Gifted cannot be used to apply for admission to high schools that combine entrance exams with admission and schools that consider admission.

Admission registration is done online. Students and parents are responsible for the accuracy and validity of online registration data.

Students are not allowed to change their preferences after the registration deadline (except in cases where the number of registered students for a specialized subject is less than 45).

Admission principles

No admission will be held for specialized subjects with less than 45 registered students.

Admission is only considered for students who have taken all required exams, have not violated exam regulations to the extent that their exam results are canceled; non-major exam scores are 1 point or higher and specialized exam scores are 2 points or higher. The selection process ensures that each specialized class has no more than 35 students. Selection is based on the principle of selection scores from high to low until the quota is met. Admitted students are those with selection scores higher than or equal to the admission standard score.

In case the number of students with admission scores equal to or higher than the standard score but exceeding the assigned enrollment quota (due to many candidates having the same admission scores), the secondary criteria will be applied in order of priority to determine the successful students. Admission is carried out according to the principle of gradual elimination until the quota is met. Specifically as follows:

Candidates with higher specialized subject scores will be given priority.

The average score of all subjects is evaluated using the scores of the higher secondary school years ranked first.

The average score of all subjects is evaluated with the higher grade 9 score ranked first.

The higher average score for the whole year of Literature and Math in grade 9 is ranked first.

In case all the above criteria have been applied but the number of admitted students still exceeds the target, the Admissions Council will adjust the admission standard score to ensure that the number of admitted students does not exceed the assigned enrollment target.

Organization of the examination

After the exam results are available, the admissions board of Hoang Le Kha High School for the Gifted will consider enrolling students into specialized classes corresponding to the specialized subjects they have registered for.

Additional admission for History and Information Technology classes when there are less than 20 students admitted. The subjects eligible for additional admission are students who have registered their wishes. The admission score from the Literature specialized class to the History specialized class must be equal to or higher than the standard score of the History specialized class. The admission score from the Math specialized class to the Information Technology specialized class must be equal to or higher than the standard score of the Information Technology specialized class.

Students who fail to pass the entrance exam to Hoang Le Kha High School for the Gifted will have their non-specialized exam scores automatically transferred by the enrollment management software system to continue applying for NV1, NV2, NV3 to public high schools according to their initial registration wishes.

No direct admission and no bonus points or incentive points for students applying to Hoang Le Kha High School for the Gifted.
