Admission criteria and methods for grade 6
Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School enrolls 7 grade 6 classes with 245 students through the form of reviewing records combined with conducting a capacity assessment survey.
Hoc Mon District Department of Education and Training guides parents of students to register for grade 6 admission according to the following time and method:
From May 30 to 4:00 p.m. on June 6, parents can access the Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School information portal at http://thcsnguyenankhuong.hcm.edu.vn, admissions section, enter the required information, and download the survey registration form.
On June 8, Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School sent a list of students registering to participate in the 6th grade admission survey to primary schools.
From June 10 to 13, submit your application directly to your primary school. Your application includes an application form; 2 3x4 photos; a valid copy of your 5th grade report card or a certificate of your final exam scores for math and Vietnamese for grade 5 (original); a valid copy of your English certificate (if any).
From June 17 to 21, parents will receive student survey cards at Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School.

Grade 6 test structure
Mr. Nguyen Van Hiep, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Hoc Mon district, informed that the 6th grade test lasts 90 minutes, including 2 essay and multiple choice parts in both English and Vietnamese.
The survey content includes 2 parts:
Multiple choice part : Test time is 20 minutes, students answer 20 multiple choice questions in Vietnamese about understanding natural sciences, social sciences and common sense of life.
Essay section : 70 minutes to complete the test including:
- English proficiency test: listening-comprehension, reading-comprehension, writing. Candidates take the test in English for 30 minutes.
- To test mathematical ability and logical thinking, candidates will take a 20-minute test in Vietnamese.
- Reading comprehension and writing skills test, candidates take the test in Vietnamese for 20 minutes.
Hoc Mon District Department of Education and Training stipulates the admission conditions for Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School as follows: Students who have completed primary school in Hoc Mon District and students who have completed primary school elsewhere and are currently residing in Hoc Mon District and wish to study grade 6 at the school. At the same time, the final periodic test score of grade 5 in each subject of Vietnamese and math must be 9 points or higher.
The admission score is the total score of the 6th grade entrance exam. Based on the results of the exam, the 6th grade admissions board of Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School will consider from high to low until the quota is met. In case students have the same score, the board will consider in order of priority: students with English certificates from high to low; math and Vietnamese scores of 2 semesters of grade 5.
Thus, in Ho Chi Minh City, in the 2024-2025 school year, there will officially be 6 schools enrolling 6th grade students through a competency assessment test with a similar structure to the previous 6th grade entrance test at Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School. These are: Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School (District 1), Nguyen Huu Tho (District 7), Binh Tho, Hoa Lu, Tran Quoc Toan 1 (Thu Duc City), Nguyen An Khuong (Hoc Mon District).
