Ho Chi Minh City speeds up implementation of primary school enrollment

Continuing to deploy the GIS mapping system throughout Ho Chi Minh City for the 2025-2026 school year helps allocate students to schools near their homes. Allows flexible registration based on three criteria: place of residence, previous place of study, and place of work of parents. At the same time, ensuring fairness in admission with a transparent process.

From the city's general plan, many localities in Ho Chi Minh City have accelerated the implementation of primary school enrollment.

According to the Departmentof Education and Training of Thu Duc City, in addition to implementing the enrollment process according to the time frames prescribed by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, Thu Duc City will continue to conduct the survey for grade 6 admission at 3 secondary schools as before and can do so in May.

At the same time, it is expected to continue organizing the entrance exam for grade 6 for students who want to study at Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu Secondary School, Binh Tho Secondary School in the 2025-2026 school year by reviewing the application documents and taking a test to assess each student's ability.

In particular, the expected enrollment targets at the schools include: Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School enrolls 9 grade 6 classes with 315 students. Hoa Lu Secondary School enrolls 7 grade 6 classes with 245 students. Binh Tho Secondary School enrolls 8 grade 6 classes with 280 students.

In District 1, the district's Department of Education and Training said it is reviewing the number of children in the area, ensuring that all school-age children are updated on the education and training sector's data system.

At Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School (District 1), it is expected to recruit 350 6th grade students for the 2025-2026 school year; continue to conduct the capacity assessment survey as in the previous school year. The survey time is June, instead of July as in previous years. The reason is that the city's primary school enrollment is expected to be completed by the end of June (2 months earlier than last year), so the 6th grade enrollment for Tran Dai Nghia School will also be carried out earlier.

A representative of the city's Department of Education and Training also said that during this year's first-level enrollment period, the Department has sent out instructions to localities such as adding staff to support online registration and providing full enrollment information to people.

At the same time, increase transparency in the admission process, provide full evidence and admission lists, build a strict inspection and monitoring system and an effective complaint handling mechanism. Strengthen review and coordination with localities, especially in the work of universalizing education... to support people.
