Her husband passed away early, for many years, Ms. Trieu Quynh Mai, residing in Trung Hoa commune (Ngan Son), has worked hard to raise her children. When they reached the age of duty to the country, her two sons, Ban Tay Nguyen and Ban Trong Nghia, volunteered to join the army and are currently stationed at the 750th Infantry Regiment, Provincial Military Command. Although her children do not work in the fields, Ms. Mai still receives attention and support from relatives, neighbors, organizations, and armed forces when planting, harvesting, and working the land. Notably, in mid-2024, Ms. Mai received support from the Provincial Police to build a "Great Solidarity" house to help her "settle down".
Mrs. Mai confided: "Since we built a solid house, my family no longer worries about the rainy season, so we can rest assured to do business. I tell my children that the Party and the State should pay attention to building a house for my family. The children in the unit must train well and contribute to protecting the country."

Her husband died early when her two children were still young, making life difficult for Mrs. Sai Thi Nim's family in Tan Tu commune (Bach Thong). She had to shoulder the burden of raising her children and their health, so for many years, despite her efforts, Mrs. Nim's family was still considered poor. After being affected twice by landslides on the hill behind her house, the walls and roof of Mrs. Nim's house cracked. Every time it rained, Mrs. Nim and her children took turns using basins to catch water, but when it rained heavily, the water flooded the floor like a pond, and the three of them had to go to their grandmother's house for shelter. Before joining the army, Mrs. Nim's son, Pham Van Hung, received news that his family would receive 30 million VND to repair their house under the province's program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. This lifted a heavy burden from his heart and helped him feel secure in fulfilling his duty to the Fatherland.
Anh Hung confided: “Last week, my mother came to visit and told me that the house was about to be repaired, and I was so happy that I cried. After many years of living in a dilapidated house, exposed to the sun and rain, now with the support of the State, my house is about to be repaired. This good news helps me to be more excited to train and love the military environment more.”
According to statistics from the Provincial Military Command, in 2025, a total of 750 young people from Bac Kan will join the army to fulfill their duty to the Fatherland. Of these, 24 families of new recruits are on the list of households supported to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses under the province's general program. Under the general direction of the Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command, the Military Commands of districts and cities will review and make a list, and proactively mobilize human resources when necessary to support families of new recruits in transporting materials to build houses. In 2023 and 2024, the Provincial Military Command and the Provincial Police will also actively participate in supporting poor, near-poor households and policy families in the province to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.
Responding to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's call "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses with all resources and new ways of doing things", Bac Kan is resolutely implementing a plan to realize the dream of "settling down and making a living" for thousands of households. With the assigned role and tasks, the provincial armed forces are ready to contribute their efforts with the political system to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for households, including families of new recruits who are eligible for the policy. This is a meaningful work, helping new recruits feel more secure in training and fulfilling their duty to the Fatherland./.
