On August 28, information from the Tax Department of District 7 - Nha Be, Ho Chi Minh City said that the above proposal was sent to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Planning and Investment, based on the Law on Tax Administration.
According to the leader of the Tax Department of District 7 - Nha Be, the American International Education Joint Stock Company, the investor of the Primary - Secondary - High School (American International School), owes more than 100 billion VND in taxes. The tax authority has applied many coercive measures such as: deducting bank accounts, stopping the use of invoices, and temporarily suspending the exit of the head, but to no avail.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training decided to suspend the American International School for 12 months, starting July 1, due to failing to ensure teaching conditions.
During a recent meeting with the American International School, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City - affirmed that at this point the American International School does not have the conditions to resume operations.
At the same time, the school is required not to organize any educational activities according to regulations during the suspension period. It is not allowed to conduct surveys to determine whether students will continue to study at the school or not.
However, the school has repeatedly informed parents that it is improving operating conditions and will reopen soon.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the number of teachers at the American International School is currently only 28 (previously 400), and the school is also lacking a principal.
This school has also not provided supporting documents demonstrating sufficient financial resources as required to ensure the maintenance and development of educational activities.
Parents are advised to transfer schools immediately.
As of August 24, more than 300 students of the school have confirmed their transfer online, but have not yet taken the admission steps, while about 700 students have not yet confirmed their transfer.
This afternoon, August 28, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will hold a meeting with parents of the American International School to continue providing guidance on school transfers in time for the new school year.
The leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training have asked parents to quickly transfer their children to schools to ensure that their children’s education is not interrupted before the new school year. The city’s public school system will create all conditions to accept students regardless of financial difficulties or procedural problems.
