The Prime Minister has just signed a decision to transform the National Economics University into the National Economics University today, November 15.
With the transformation of the National Economics University into the National Economics University, this will be a public service unit, a public higher education institution under the Ministry of Education and Training, with legal status, its own seal and account.
The Government requires the National Economics University to reorganize its organizational structure and operations in accordance with the Law on Higher Education and relevant legal regulations. During that process, the school must ensure the legitimate rights and interests of relevant parties, operate normally, and avoid negativity, loss, and waste of finances and assets.
The University Council, the Chairman of the University Council, and the Principal shall continue to perform their duties and powers according to current regulations until the Ministry of Education and Training decides to establish the University Council, recognize the Chairman of the University Council, and the Director of the National Economics University according to the provisions of law.
Thus, the National Economics University will become the 9th university in Vietnam, alongside Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Thai Nguyen University, Hue University, Da Nang University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, and Duy Tan University. In which, Duy Tan University is the first private university in our country.
According to the Law on Higher Education 2018, university and college are two different concepts.
A university is an institution that trains many majors but not many fields. While a college will train in many fields, each field has many majors. Therefore, a university will include colleges.
