This afternoon (March 24) in Hanoi, the University of Transport held a ceremony to celebrate its 63rd anniversary and 65 years of university training.
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Hung - Principal of the University of Transport shared: After 65 years of university training, the University has grown strongly, with 758 lecturers (including 3 professors, 100 associate professors, 254 doctors).
Every year, the school organizes training in 34 university majors, from traditional majors such as Traffic Construction, Transport Economics, Traffic Engineering... to new, strategic fields such as intelligent transportation systems, high-speed railways and semiconductor technology.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Hung reviews the development journey of the University of Transport.
Notably, the school's leaders said they have built new, modern and integrated training programs in the fields of urban railways, high-speed railways and semiconductor industry - key national science and technology fields in the new period.
Specifically, for the railway industry, the school opened 7 new engineering and bachelor's programs. These programs are built on the foundation of 65 years of experience in training in the railway sector of the University of Transport and Communications as well as referring to and absorbing advanced training models from Europe, Japan, Korea and China; integrating content to decode core technologies in the railway sector; promoting cooperation with the world's leading universities and research institutes; increasing the duration of internships, experiments and practices.
The program is designed with a practical orientation, ensuring that graduates have the ability to work immediately, ready to participate and contribute effectively to key national projects, especially the North-South high-speed railway project, expected to start construction in December 2026.
In the field of microchips - semiconductors, the School continues to build on the microchips - semiconductors program that was built nearly 20 years ago. The School has updated, completed and issued a training program for talented engineers on semiconductor chips, to serve the semiconductor industry development strategy until 2030, with a vision to 2050.
The school announced the decision and awarded certificates of quality assessment of training programs to lecturers.
"This is a clear demonstration of the strategic thinking, national responsibility and innovative adaptability of the University of Transport in response to the country's development requirements in the high-tech era.
Along with developing new majors, we continue to affirm the quality of training by receiving quality accreditation certificates for many undergraduate and graduate programs, including 3 programs meeting AUN-QA international standards, which is the basis for continuously improving our position in the Vietnamese and regional higher education system," said Principal Nguyen Van Hung.
University of Transport signed a cooperation agreement with Vietnam Standards and Quality Institute.
Also today, the University of Transport signed a cooperation agreement with the Vietnam Standards and Quality Institute to build a national standards system for the transport sector in the 2025-2030 period.
Accordingly, the two sides will coordinate to develop a set of National Standards for Modern Railways. This is an important step, continuing to affirm the leading role in academics, engineering and innovation of a pioneering higher education institution in solving core issues in the design, construction and operation of the national railway system, in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 57 on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, as well as Conclusion No. 49 of the Politburo on the orientation of Vietnam's railway transport development to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
