The Hanoi People's Committee has just approved the Technical Support Project Document "Research on Long Bien Bridge Renovation" using non-refundable aid from the Economic Agency of the French Embassy in Vietnam through the FASEP Fund of the French Ministry of Economy and Finance.
In terms of scale, the project consists of 3 components: Survey, data collection, analysis and evaluation; propose solutions for short-term renovation and repair of Long Bien Bridge to ensure traffic safety; study and propose plans for future use of the bridge when the national railway line across the bridge is discontinued and handed over to the Hanoi People's Committee for management.

The project will be implemented in 11 months and is expected to be completed in 2025. The total investment capital of the project is 19.9 billion VND.
The research project aims to propose solutions to ensure structural safety and other future uses of Long Bien Bridge.
Accordingly, ensuring safety for people and vehicles using the project, including railways, two-wheelers and pedestrians; highlighting the heritage value because this is one of the typical locations of Hanoi, a historical symbol and part of Hanoi's landscape for more than a century; researching scenarios for future bridge use.
