Solid support for workers

This afternoon (January 13), the Vietnam Transport Trade Union held the 5th Extended Executive Committee Conference, summarizing the work in 2024 and deploying tasks for 2025.

More than 100 initiatives, making hundreds of billions of dong in profit

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Minh Dung, member of the Presidium and Chairman of the Inspection Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, highly appreciated the Vietnam Transport Trade Union for having many creative and practical solutions and activities in 2024, achieving comprehensive results.

Regarding the 2025 tasks, Mr. Dung suggested that the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Transport Trade Union focus on closely coordinating with the Vietnam Construction Trade Union to develop and implement a plan to merge the two industry unions, in accordance with Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW. Before that, it is necessary to do a good job of organizing personnel and finance for a successful merger.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Dung, member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, authorized by the President of the General Confederation, awarded a Certificate of Merit to the Vietnam Transport Trade Union for its outstanding achievements.

"In the immediate future, we request that the Vietnam Transport Trade Union pay attention to taking care of union members and workers during the Lunar New Year 2025. In addition to reviewing and having policies to support union members, workers, and full-time union officials in difficult circumstances, there should be practical activities to care for and encourage workers on construction sites, projects, and production workers during Tet...", Mr. Dung suggested.

Receiving the direction of the Chairman of the General Confederation of Labor's Inspection Committee, Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Transport Trade Union, said that in 2024, emulation activities and caring for union members and workers will receive special attention from all levels of industry unions.

With the spirit of dynamism, creativity, innovation, daring to think, daring to do, the team of union officials, union members, and workers in the transport sector have joined hands and unanimously overcome difficulties, achieved great and comprehensive results in all aspects of activities, and completed and fulfilled most of the set targets.

Notably, the jobs of union members and workers have been basically maintained, incomes have been stable, working conditions and policies have been guaranteed. The average income of union members, workers and employees in the industry has reached over 10.3 million VND/person/month.

Vietnam Transport Trade Union focuses on directing and implementing activities to care for union members and workers. In particular, on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2024, with the motto "All union members and workers have Tet", gifts were given to many groups and individuals with a total amount of over 4.5 billion VND. Directing and guiding units to implement Tet care activities at the grassroots level.

Organize Workers' Month activities in 2024 with the theme "Solidarity of workers, implementation of resolutions"; at the same time, thoroughly grasp and direct units to organize practical, effective and economical Workers' Month activities. In particular, the "Union Meal" program implemented by unions at all levels is a new feature, a highlight showing the role of trade unions in connecting workers with employers, contributing to improving meals for more than 6,000 union members and employees at the units.

At the same time, propagandize and mobilize union members and workers with the spirit of mutual love and support, helping each other, joining hands to share and support people affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi) with an amount of over 8.7 billion VND.

In emulation and propaganda work, the Vietnam Transport Trade Union coordinated with the Ministry of Transport to organize cultural and sports activities towards the 80th anniversary of the traditional day of the transport industry (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025).

Emulation movements closely following the emulation content of the industry have been concretized and widely implemented by trade unions at all levels with many diverse and rich forms, attracting a large number of union members and workers to participate in responding, competing to achieve achievements, completing on schedule and ahead of schedule key traffic projects of the country and the industry. Through the emulation movement, 112 initiatives of collectives and individuals have been recorded, bringing in a value of 293.4 billion VND.

Tens of billions of dong to take care of workers

Reporting on the results of trade union activities in 2024, Ms. Au Thi Dinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Transport Trade Union, said that the Vietnam Transport Trade Union has closely followed the leadership and direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, coordinated with the Ministry of Transport to promote the spirit of solidarity and proactiveness in direction and operation; clearly identified key and focal tasks to focus on directing and implementing many new and creative tasks, with many suitable solutions.

The results have achieved many outstanding results according to the tasks assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Regarding organization, more than 1,900 union members have been developed; 583 outstanding union members have been introduced to the Party for consideration and admission (reaching 136.53%).

Regarding propaganda, more than 63,000 union members were propagandized, disseminated, and thoroughly understood the Party's guidelines and resolutions, and the State's laws and policies (reaching 115.37%); more than 42,000 union members at enterprises participated in studying to improve their qualifications and professional skills (reaching 125.7%); 222 grassroots trade unions in enterprises organized Workers' Month activities (reaching 122.65%).

Regarding the representation and protection of the rights and interests of union members and workers, 6 grassroots trade unions in the administrative and career sector participated in promulgating grassroots democracy regulations to achieve grassroots trade union status (100%); 358/375 grassroots trade unions in non-state enterprises participated in promulgating grassroots democracy regulations (95.4%); There were no labor cases filed in court that were supported by the union and participated in litigation protection when union members requested.

In particular, the Vietnam Transport Trade Union regularly monitors, grasps, and promptly supports workers in especially difficult circumstances. As of December 15, 2024, the Vietnam Transport Trade Union Charity Fund has decided to support activities with a total amount of more than 4.8 billion VND, including: Supporting the construction costs of 8 union shelters; visiting and giving gifts to 133 groups, 1,963 employees; giving gifts to 600 former Youth Volunteers, members of the Ho Chi Minh Trail Truong Son Tradition Association.

In addition, support for workers, visiting workers on construction sites from the union's financial resources and the Vietnam Transport Trade Union's social fund with an amount of more than 150 million VND. Agencies, units and enterprises in the industry have also proactively carried out health care and life care for workers and organized other social and charitable activities with an amount of tens of billions of VND.
