Information about the meeting and talks between the Chinese leader and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue was prominently published on the front page of the People's Daily - the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of China on April 9.
Speaking at the meeting on the morning of April 8, President Xi Jinping affirmed that his and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's joint declaration to build a China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future has strategic significance, opening a new chapter for bilateral relations and the common perceptions reached between the two leaders are being implemented by both sides.
He emphasized that “being both comrades and brothers” is the most vivid description of the traditional friendship between the two Parties and two countries. He hoped that both sides would work together to promote the building of the China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future to achieve more results, serve the modernization of each side, bring better benefits to the people of the two countries and contribute more to the cause of world socialism.
President Xi Jinping stressed that China is willing to strengthen exchanges of experience in Party building and national governance with Vietnam, promote the coordinating role of the Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, accelerate the connection between the Belt and Road Initiative and the "Two Corridors, One Belt" strategy, and enrich the channels of exchange between youth and sister cities.
He hopes that the legislative bodies of the two sides will deepen exchanges and cooperation at all levels, enhance mutual learning on legislative and supervisory experience, and play an important role in enhancing people-to-people friendship between the two countries.
In a video of the meeting broadcast on China Central Television (CCTV), President Xi Jinping emphasized that this was Comrade Wang Dinghui's first visit as Chairman of the National Assembly. Therefore, he believed that the visit would further strengthen the friendly relations between the National People's Congress of China and the National Assembly of Vietnam, and at the same time enrich the content of the China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future.
At the meeting in the afternoon of the same day, Chairman of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji emphasized that the "intimate meeting" between General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and Chairman of the National Assembly Wang Dinghui "fully demonstrated the high importance attached to deepening the relationship between the two countries". "China is willing to work with Vietnam to well implement the important consensus between the two General Secretaries, promote exchanges and cooperation between China and Vietnam in all channels, at all levels, in all fields with high-level operation and high-quality development".
He hoped that the National People's Congress and the National People's Congress of the two countries would implement cooperation agreements, establish and make good use of the mechanism of the Cooperation Committee between the two sides, enhance friendly exchanges at all levels in the legislative bodies, learn from each other's experiences in law-making, supervision and governance, promptly ratify and amend legal documents that are conducive to mutually beneficial cooperation, better serve the cause of building socialism on each side and building the China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future.
He also hopes that the two sides will expand practical cooperation in many fields, deepen traditional friendship, create a good atmosphere for bilateral relations, and enhance cooperation in the fields of people's livelihood, culture and tourism.
China Daily quoted Professor Song Qingrun from the Institute of Asia, Beijing Foreign Studies University, as saying that frequent high-level exchanges between China and Vietnam have demonstrated strong political trust between the two countries. He also stressed the importance of the two sides further exploiting the potential for cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, investment and infrastructure development.
Meanwhile, the Global Times – a publication of the People's Daily – quoted Chinese experts as affirming that the visit of President Vuong Dinh Hue and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation is of great significance in strengthening cooperation between the two Parties, two countries, two legislative bodies and peoples of the two countries, as well as regional cooperation between China and ASEAN.
