Bac Giang promotes investment and connects businesses in Guangdong province, China

From November 18-22, Central Party Committee member, Secretary of Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Gau led a delegation of Bac Giang province to visit and work in Guangdong province, China.

On the afternoon of November 18, right after arriving in Guangzhou, the delegation offered incense and flowers at the Tomb of Martyr Pham Hong Thai to commemorate the revolutionary predecessor's contributions and express deep gratitude for his heroic sacrifice for the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnamese people.

Next, the delegation visited the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association Headquarters Relic Site - a place associated with President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary career from November 1924 to May 1927.

Comrade Nguyen Van Gau and the delegation were moved to see the photos recording the years of President Ho Chi Minh's close association with the local people in Guangzhou. Here, he opened three political training classes, training Vietnamese revolutionary cadres with a total of 75 people. He was directly in charge and the main lecturer. His lectures were collected and published in the book "Duong Kach Menh", a handbook for the activities of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association, one of the first theoretical documents of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation visited and worked with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Guangzhou. Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Gau said that Bac Giang province is very interested in promoting foreign affairs, especially contributing to strengthening the Vietnam-China strategic cooperative partnership towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (January 18, 1950 - January 18, 2025) and the 'Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year' 2025, building political trust by implementing extensive and practical cooperation in all fields.

Bac Giang province currently has 10 industrial parks in operation, with a planned 29 industrial parks by 2030. The province is located in the Northern Economic Development Zone, 50 km from Noi Bai International Airport, with an economic growth rate of 13.45% in 2023, ranking first in the country. The scale of GRDP for the whole year of 2023 is 181.9 trillion VND (equivalent to about 7.6 billion USD); the goals of attracting FDI, social security, eliminating dilapidated houses, etc. will all be completed before 2025. Bac Giang province has attracted 57.43 billion USD in investment capital from China, accounting for 44% of total foreign investment.

The leaders of Bac Giang province expressed their wish that the Consulate General would promote its role as a bridge to support the province in introducing and promoting its potential advantages and investment attraction policies in the fields of economics, trade, tourism, services, etc. to Chinese partners; support the province in attracting potential and strong Chinese investors to invest in Bac Giang province in the fields of trade, services, agricultural product processing for export, processing and manufacturing industries with high technology content, environmentally friendly; and building a smart city. At the same time, the province also expects to be supported in promoting trade promotion activities, developing and expanding markets, promoting the export of goods from Bac Giang province to China; especially agricultural products with strengths such as lychee, processed products from rice, oranges, grapefruits, honey, etc.

Speaking at the meeting with the delegation, Vietnamese Consul General in Guangzhou Nguyen Viet Dung informed the delegation about the strengths of Guangdong and the potential for expanding cooperation with Vietnam in general and Bac Giang in particular. The Consul General affirmed that within the scope of its functions, the Consulate General will support Bac Giang province to connect with agencies, units and enterprises of Guangdong province, for the benefit of the country and the practical benefits of Bac Giang province.

During November 19-21, the delegation had working sessions with the Provincial Party Committee School - Guangdong Provincial Academy of Administration, held talks with Vice Mayor of Guangzhou City Hu Hao, held talks and attended a reception hosted by Mayor of Foshan City Bai Tao, visited a number of typical enterprises in Dongguang and coordinated with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Guangzhou and the Shenzhen Business Union to organize an Investment and Trade Promotion Seminar in Shenzhen, one of the major economic centers, a future civilized city, and a cultural capital of China.

Consul General of Vietnam in Guangzhou Nguyen Viet Dung participated in the delegation's activities in Guangzhou, Foshan and Shenzhen - the most dynamic innovation centers in China, the central cities of the Greater Bay Area Strategy proposed by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.

On November 22, the delegation returned home, successfully concluding their working trip in Guangdong province.

Guangdong Province, with a total area of ​​180,000 km2 and a population of over 136 million, is the locality with the largest total economic output and import-export value in China in the past nearly 40 years. In 2023, the province's GRDP was equivalent to over 1,911 billion USD, ranking first in China; the province's import-export scale was over 1,100 billion USD, accounting for 1/5 of the country's total import-export turnover.

Guangdong and Vietnam have a close, close, and comprehensive relationship in all fields, especially in trade and economy, and have the largest trade volume with Vietnam among Chinese localities, accounting for 21.1% of the total import-export turnover between Vietnam and China.

At the same time, Guangdong is also the locality with the largest commercial scale among the provinces and cities of our country and is the province with many twin cities with localities of Vietnam such as: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Can Tho...

The province's major cities such as Guangzhou (twinned with Ho Chi Minh City in 1996 and with the capital Hanoi in 2023) and Foshan (twinned with Hai Duong province in 2024) are the most dynamic innovation centers in China, the central cities of the Greater Bay Area Strategy (GBA) proposed by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.
