Consulate General of Vietnam in Guangzhou attends the 27th China International Tropical Agricultural Products Fair

From December 4-5, Mr. Tran Dinh Vu Hai, Consul General of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Guangzhou attended the opening ceremony of the 27th China International Tropical Agricultural Products Fair and related sideline activities in the Hainan Special Economic Zone.

The trip was at the invitation of the Organizing Committee of the China International Tropical Agricultural Products Fair and the People's Government of Hainan Province (China).

At the opening ceremony, Hainan Vice Governor Li Feng introduced the Fair and expressed his wish that the Fair would be a brand bridge connecting China and the world in the fields of agriculture, agricultural and seafood products...

The Vice Governor of Hainan said that the Fair includes 6 exhibition areas, 2 activity areas and 1 outdoor exhibition area, with an exhibition area of ​​about 80,000 square meters, focusing on displaying global agricultural products along with Hainan's unique tropical products, combining the achievements of scientific and technological development of fruits, vegetables, grains, oils, tea, coffee, livestock, aquatic products, smart agriculture and recreational agriculture.

Famous local brands in Hainan are participating in the exhibition such as Hainan coconut, Chengmai fruit, Lingshui seafood, Qiongzhong delicacies, Baisha pig, Wenchang chicken... At the same time, the planned "1+6+N" activities include 1 opening ceremony, 6 key activities and N parallel activities that will bring visitors to see the unique charm and quality value of Hainan specialty agricultural products, as well as the delicious taste and excellent quality of Hainan and world agricultural products and food.

The fair was attended by ASEAN countries and 20 countries around the world such as France, Moldova, Russia, Singapore, Korea, Kenya, Ethiopia... as well as more than 50 representatives of international industrial organizations.

At the Fair, visitors saw nuts, coffee, African dried peppers, chocolate, tea, rice, butter, cheese and other high-quality, characteristic agricultural products from many countries and regions, thereby deepening exchanges and cooperation between China and the world, and at the same time, fully highlighting the advantages of Hainan Special Economic Zone and Hainan Free Trade Port.

At the opening ceremony, on behalf of the Vietnamese Consul General in Guangzhou Nguyen Viet Dung, Consul Tran Dinh Vu Hai expressed that Vietnam and China are two neighboring countries, connected by mountains and rivers, sharing similar values ​​in many fields of politics, economics, culture, life... Over the past thousands of years, the people of the two countries have had close exchanges. Currently, continuously deepening the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership is the top priority of Vietnam's foreign policy of "multilateralization and diversification".

Vietnam is a tropical country with strengths in agricultural products and tropical fruits. Coming to the Fair, witnessing the diverse, rich agricultural products, typical of regions of China as well as internationally, Mr. Hai felt familiar and close as if he were at home. The Fair brings the opportunity to introduce the potential and strengths in general and of the agricultural sector in particular of China, including Hainan province, to domestic and international friends.

According to Mr. Hai, the Consulate General expects the Fair to be an effective bridge, an important trade promotion channel creating conditions for China and the world, including Vietnam, to seek business cooperation opportunities, expand the market for consumption and export of agricultural products, exchange and sign many high-value trade contracts, facilitating the construction and enhancement of agricultural product brands...

According to statistics from Vietnamese agencies, the total import-export turnover between Vietnam and China in the first 9 months of 2024 reached nearly 150 billion USD. It is forecast that two-way trade will reach 200 billion USD by the end of this year. Of which, China imports a large amount of agricultural products from the Asian market, of which agricultural products imported from Vietnam account for about 20% of the ASEAN market share.

Vietnamese agricultural products such as bird's nest, coconut, passion fruit, dragon fruit, durian, etc. are popular with Chinese consumers. Vietnam has proposed that China accelerate the expansion of its market with Vietnamese agricultural products and fruits such as citrus, avocado, custard apple, and rose apple to reach more Chinese consumers. At the same time, the Vietnamese government is committed to creating favorable conditions for Chinese agricultural products to be exported to the Vietnamese market.

According to Mr. Hai, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Guangzhou welcomes Chinese enterprises, including those in the agricultural sector, to invest and do business in Vietnam, and welcomes Chinese people to travel and relax in Vietnam.

Since 1998, the China International Tropical Agricultural Products Fair has been held 26 times, and is China's only comprehensive international tropical agricultural products exhibition platform, playing an important role in promoting agricultural cooperation and exchanges between the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) countries and countries and territories along the Belt and Road, with profound international influence.

The 27th fair was held from December 5-8 in Haikou City, the capital of Hainan Special Economic Zone, with the theme "Gathering agricultural specialties - Enjoying trade opportunities", covering an area of ​​80,000 ^m2 , including exhibition areas such as international specialty products, production supply chains, famous enterprises, and local brands.

In addition to the Opening Ceremony on the morning of December 5, other activities took place, including the Consular Delegation greeting the Leaders of the Special Zone on the evening of December 4, the Hainan Free Trade Zone 2024 Agricultural Investment and Trade Forum, business networking activities, trade promotion, and exchanges to introduce agricultural products from Hainan, China and the world, etc.
