Becoming an 'ambassador' for green and healthy living after meeting... a model and a doctor

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên02/12/2024

'Nature gives us many things: oxygen to breathe, resources to develop agriculture, tourism... However, green space in nature is not only available, we must create it together to make green space sustainable...'.

The words shared by model and businesswoman Helly Tong at the talk show "Change actions - Change lives" on the morning of November 30 inspired thousands of students of the University of Finance and Marketing about a green and healthy lifestyle.

The event is part of the series of festivals “Living green and living healthy with students” co-organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper and Acecook Vietnam Joint Stock Company. The University of Finance and Marketing is the second destination in this series of meaningful activities.

Students learn more knowledge and are inspired about green and healthy living.

Each person cannot be separated from nature and community to live green.

At the festival, model-entrepreneur Helly Tong was present to share and inspire thousands of students about green and healthy living. She is loved by 43,000 followers on Facebook. In addition, Helly Tong is also passionate about green living projects and incorporates this lifestyle into her business projects.

"When I was young, I dreamed of traveling to many places and doing something to help many people. When I went to study in Australia, my biggest question was: What am I studying for? Do I want to change for a better tomorrow?", Helly Tong recounted.

Model Helly Tong is loved by many students because of her many meaningful activities about green living.

She continued: "And I remember what my teacher said: studying is to become a human being. So what do you need to become a human being? You need a heart. You need to have thinking, to have awareness. Every action will help us know what we are living for. We need to connect with nature, nature gives us many things: oxygen to breathe, resources to develop agriculture, tourism... We also need to connect with the community. These two connections help us connect with ourselves."

To illustrate the message she wanted to share, the female model projected onto the screen a photo she took while abroad: Two people, a man and a woman, standing by a blue lake, with ducks swimming happily below, and a vast, clear sky above... All the students asked about the photo commented that the scene was green, clean, and peaceful. People seemed to be connecting with nature and with themselves...

"Living green means living with nature. We are all interconnected and we cannot separate ourselves from the community. If you are nurturing a desirable business model in the future, no matter what business we do, we should minimize the impact on the environment and ecosystem on earth. Natural green space is not only available, but we must create it together to make it sustainable," the businesswoman advised.

Dr. Khue Tuong shared many useful knowledge about nutrition with students.

Right after Helly Tong's inspirational talk about green living, Master, Doctor Truong Nhat Khue Tuong stirred up the hall with "both easy and difficult" questions about nutrition such as how to get green energy from food put into the body, how to eat to ensure enough energy to live, study and work?

"Not eating enough will make you tired, lethargic, and lack of concentration... Unscientific diets and lack of exercise also cause diseases to come early. Many young people at the age of 25 have diabetes, and at the age of 27 have high blood pressure and dyslipidemia... Obesity is even alarming among primary school children," said Dr. Tuong.

From there, Dr. Tuong advised students to note that a healthy meal must ensure fruits, vegetables (1/2), grains (1/4) and protein (1/4). Every day, 400g of vegetables, 180g of fruit, 250-300g of protein, 500ml of milk.

"Do not eliminate any food from your diet, maintain a healthy diet, listen to understand your body's needs. Do not diet, eat enough to help your body have a strong immune system, and do not eat sugar easily...", Dr. Tuong added.

What is a reasonable diet?

One of the most exciting activities of the "Living green and healthy with students" festival was the exciting Golden Bell competition with the competition of 50 students.

11 questions about nutrition knowledge were given by the organizers one after another and after each question, a significant number of students had to "leave the game". Right from the first question "When adding egg whites and yolks to instant noodles, which nutrients are significantly added?", 20 candidates answered incorrectly. The correct answer is "protein and fat".

Eagerly awaiting the first question

Nervous when giving the answer

However, by question number 2, only 3 contestants had to stop, by question number 3, 6 more contestants were eliminated and the competition really "exploded" when by question number 5, there were only... 2 contestants competing with each other. Both were equally talented and "held hands" to go to question number 8 and at this point, the competition found a winner.

Question number 8 is: What is the source of fat in the oil packet that comes with instant noodles? With the four suggestions "animal fat", "oil used to fry noodles", "refined vegetable oil", "saturated fat", Phan Van Chien, a senior student majoring in management information systems, chose the answer "refined vegetable oil" and won first prize with a prize of 2 million VND and a box of noodles. The remaining 49 contestants were each given a box of noodles.

Phan Van Chien said he was very happy to have "won" the prize and learned more about green and healthy living.

Sharing about the contest in particular and the festival in general, Phan Van Chien said: "Today's program is extremely meaningful. In particular, model Helly Tong and doctor Khue Tuong helped me gain more knowledge about 'living green and living healthy'. I learned more about a reasonable diet and became more aware of protecting the living environment. The Golden Bell contest also helped me know that eating instant noodles combined with vegetables, protein, and protein is very good for my health."

Kim Thong, a second-year student majoring in finance and banking, although he stopped playing early, still smiled brightly and said: "Thanks to the contest, I learned a lot about nutrition."

Healthy, civilized, responsible lifestyle

Dr. Cao Tan Huy, Vice Principal of University of Finance and Marketing

Dr. Cao Tan Huy, Vice Principal of the University of Finance and Marketing, commented: "The program aims to raise students' awareness of balanced nutrition, physical training and environmental protection, for a sustainable future for all of us. I think this is a healthy, civilized lifestyle, full of responsibility and deserves to be spread strongly in the student community in particular and young people in general," said Dr. Huy.

Each student inspires friends and family to live green and healthy.

"After participating in the program, I hope that students will receive useful knowledge and interesting experiences, from which they can apply and change their daily habits.
