Two Mothers revolves around two old neighbors, Mrs. Sau (Van Anh) and Mrs. Tu (Cat Tuong).

Mrs. Sau is a heroic Vietnamese mother, whose husband and children all sacrificed for a great cause. Meanwhile, Mrs. Tu is the mother of an officer of the old regime.

From that difficult situation, the play exploited the pain of two mothers.

There are sorrows on both sides. War pushes people into tragedy and cannot be divided into black and white.

The war was over, both mothers lost their children. Their pain was the common pain of the nations that had to struggle in the fire.

However, there are mothers who are not only in pain but also carry a heavy burden of guilt. They need sharing and empathy...

Trinh Kim Chi sympathizes with mothers

From the play Rang Tram Bau to Hai Nguoi Me , it can be seen that Trinh Kim Chi pays great attention to exploiting the image of mothers in revolutionary plays.

There are many reasons why she decided to direct the play Two Mothers . While searching for a script for her students' graduation exam (Trinh Kim Chi is currently teaching at the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City), Trinh Kim Chi read the script by author Le Thu Hanh.

The work moved her. "The script moved me to tears because of the nobility of motherly love.

"Mother's love is always immense. There are many stories about mother's love, but the sacrifices of mothers during war always touch people's hearts very deeply. It gives people highlights and memories" - Trinh Kim Chi expressed.

At that time, artists familiar with Trinh Kim Chi were also looking for scripts to participate in the 2024 National Drama Festival (currently taking place in Thai Nguyen). She immediately discussed with everyone and the whole crew agreed to go on stage to rehearse Two Mothers .

Trinh Kim Chi also added that the city is currently encouraging artists to create works to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the complete reunification of the country, so the work "Two Mothers" is also a meaningful project on this occasion.

As the second play on the revolutionary theme, Trinh Kim Chi said that she gained a lot of experience in staging and building character psychology.
