On October 28, the Ministry of National Defense of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea accused South Korea of launching unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from a frontline island in the Yellow Sea toward Pyongyang.
According to previous allegations, North Korea claimed that South Korean UAVs were detected in Pyongyang's skies three times in October. North Korea said the UAVs carried anti-Korean leaflets and threatened to respond with force if similar incidents were to occur again.

On October 28, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) announced the results of an investigation by the Ministry of National Defense, saying it had analyzed data from a crashed UAV after invading North Korea on October 8.
The drone reportedly took off from Baengnyeong Island in the Yellow Sea late on October 8 and flew into North Korean airspace. The drone dropped “politically motivated debris” in the area between the North Korean Foreign Ministry building and the Sungri subway station in Pyongyang early on October 9, and then at the Defense Ministry building.
North Korea also reconstructed a graphic simulating the UAV's flight path, showing it flew along the west coast of the Korean peninsula, entered Pyongyang and then returned to Baengnyeong Island along the same route.

KCNA said the analysis proved the "provocative nature" of South Korea, which "persisted in shirking responsibility" for the illegal intrusion.
A spokesman for the North Korean Defense Ministry reiterated that a final warning against the dangerous and reckless military and political provocation by the South Korean military forces has been issued.

In case of a repeat, North Korea declared that "the source of all provocations will disappear forever through its merciless strike."
The South Korean military has not yet responded to the investigation results but has previously said it cannot confirm North Korea's claims. In response to Pyongyang's threats, Seoul warned that Pyongyang would face the end of its regime if it harmed the South Korean people, according to Yonhap news agency.
