Responding to the new situation
Accordingly, the Air Force Officer School is assigned to train 165 quotas, including 105 military university quotas, air force command and staff officer major; 60 college quotas, aviation engineering major. Notably, of the 105 air force command and staff officer majors, there are 25 quotas specializing in UAV.
Speaking to Thanh Nien Newspaper, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Dan, Deputy Head of Training Department, Air Force Officer School, said that the recruitment of students for the UAV equipment major aims to meet the need to prepare military human resources in line with the development of science, technology and military engineering in the world.
Several years ago, the school developed a project to open a major in training UAV command and staff officers at university level, and UAV technical specialists at college and intermediate levels for the Air Defense - Air Force and the Ministry of National Defense. The school also sent lecturers to study and train on UAV equipment abroad.
After preparing all the conditions to ensure quality, from 2025, the school will officially enroll students at the university level in this major. In the immediate future, it will train the military, and later it can expand to train the civilian sector as well.
According to military scientists, the full name of the term UAV is Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, which refers to aircraft without pilots, like a robot that can be remotely controlled by a complex technological system. When combined with new GPS positioning systems and infrared devices along with artificial intelligence (AI), UAVs have actually directly participated in combat and become extremely important weapons that bring high efficiency and decisiveness on the battlefield.
In addition, UAVs are also highly applicable in other fields such as agriculture, industry, delivery or in search and rescue, traffic monitoring, weather, video recording, etc.
Military University reduces more than 1,000 quotas
Also according to the announcement of the Ministry of National Defense, this year, 17 military schools are assigned to recruit 4,233 military university students, a decrease of more than 1,000 students compared to last year. Military colleges have 150 students, the same as last year. Some military schools are also allowed to recruit civilian university students, and the schools will have separate announcements about recruiting civilian university students.
Regarding the admission method, the Ministry of National Defense has not yet announced because it is waiting for the regulations on university admission this year from the Ministry of Education and Training.
