Dismantling 2 drug trafficking rings, transporting 27,000 synthetic drug pills

(HNMO) – Dong Nai Province Police forces have coordinated with relevant units to destroy two drug trafficking and transportation rings with a total of 27,000 synthetic drug pills.

On June 3, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (PC04 - Dong Nai Provincial Police) informed that they are temporarily detaining two suspects, including Vu Minh Phuc (born in 1994, Vinh Cuu district) and Tran Van Tuan (born in 1995, Trang Bom district, both residing in Dong Nai province) to continue investigating the act of "Illegal buying, selling and transporting of drugs".

Previously, in early April 2023, through the work of grasping the situation, Department PC04 received information about a drug trafficking and transportation ring in large quantities from abroad by air to Noi Bai airport, then transported to Dong Nai province for consumption. Determining that this was a drug trafficking and transportation ring with a very large quantity, involving many related subjects, Department PC04 agreed to coordinate with the professional departments of the Provincial Police, Trang Bom District Police, Bien Hoa City Police, Hanoi City Police and the Anti-Drug Control Team (Hanoi City Customs Department) to develop a plan to combat and eradicate it.

Accordingly, at around 6:30 p.m. on May 26, in Tan Bien Ward, Bien Hoa City, PC04 Department in coordination with the above units caught Vu Minh Phuc red-handed when he had just received a delivery package containing about 17,000 synthetic drug pills. All of these synthetic drugs were disguised by the subjects in 24 cylindrical plastic boxes, containing a white cream on top.

Through the investigation, Vu Minh Phuc initially confessed that the drugs were sent from abroad to Noi Bai Airport, then delivered to Bien Hoa City (Dong Nai Province) for Vu Minh Phuc, then Phuc continued to transport the drugs to a subject (unknown background) in Binh Duong Province for consumption.

However, when Phuc received the package (containing 17,000 synthetic drug pills), he was caught red-handed by the police. Expanding the investigation, Dong Nai Provincial Police urgently arrested Tran Van Tuan. The police determined that Tuan was a person who often used drugs with Vu Minh Phuc and had a role in assisting Phuc in the illegal purchase and transportation of drugs.

Similarly, on the afternoon of April 17, 2023, PC04 Department, Dong Nai Provincial Police coordinated with PC04 Department, Hanoi City Police, functional units of Hanoi City Customs Department and Anti-smuggling Investigation Department (General Department of Customs) and Long Thanh District Police (Dong Nai Province) to arrest Nguyen Xuan Thien (born in 1997, from Quang Binh Province) when he received a delivery package containing 10,000 synthetic drug pills (MDMA type) in Long Thanh District.

With the success of dismantling the two drug trafficking and transportation rings mentioned above, the Director of Dong Nai Provincial Police decided to give an extraordinary reward of 50 million VND to the groups with outstanding achievements in investigating and arresting the subjects who illegally traded and transported the above mentioned drugs.
