Specifically, in the first 3 months of 2025, the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) has ensured safe and stable power supply to serve the production, business and daily life needs of the people and political - cultural - social activities in 21 provinces and cities in the Southern region (from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau); no load reduction was implemented, especially during the recent 2025 Lunar New Year holiday.

Cumulative electricity consumption in the first 3 months reached 22,102 billion kWh, an increase of 1.62% over the same period in 2024 (the growth in the same period in 2024 reached 14.41%, all components increased by double digits). Some localities with high growth rates are: Long An increased by 6.87%; Vinh Long increased by 6.12%; Binh Phuoc increased by 5.10%...

In the past 3 months, electricity consumption increased mainly in the construction industry, up 580 million kWh (4.76%) and commerce - restaurants - hotels, up 33 million kWh (3.96%); the remaining components all decreased.

In general, electricity consumption in 21 southern provinces and cities in the first 3 months of the year increased slightly, as the temperature in the first 3 months remained cool (about 2 degrees Celsius lower than the same period in 2024).

According to forecasts, the peak of the dry season heat wave will occur in early May 2025. In order to ensure safe and reliable electricity supply in 2025, especially during the peak of the heat wave and the dry season months, from the end of 2024 until now, EVNSPC and its member units have been implementing many plans to optimally operate the power grid system, drastically promoting and propagating electricity saving solutions... to ensure stable and adequate electricity supply.

Notably, the Southern Electricity sector has signed an agreement on a non-commercial electricity load adjustment program with 7,369 production customers with electricity consumption of 1 million kWh or more, to increase electricity saving efficiency and efficient electricity use.

Along with that, Power Companies in 21 Southern provinces have organized work and signed agreements to implement load shifting with 6,146 customers who are able to shift electricity consumption out of the system's peak hours (14-16 hours) with the potential to shift an average capacity of 430MW.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the peak of the dry season is also forecast to be May 2025. The City Power Corporation has developed response plans with the goal of providing adequate and stable electricity to customers.

Along with that, the Electricity industry recommends that people and electricity consumers increase the use of electricity economically and effectively, such as: Using effective cooling equipment (setting the air conditioner at 26-28 degrees Celsius); taking advantage of natural wind and electric fan wind; reducing direct sunlight into the room; increasing greenery around the living space; turning off electrical equipment when not in use...

For businesses, Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Company recommends having a plan to regulate electricity use from peak hours to off-peak hours; installing rooftop solar power... to always have enough electricity for production and business during the peak hot months of the dry season in 2025.
