The problem of balancing transportation resources

Việt NamViệt Nam16/02/2025

Thanh Hoa is on the path of strong development with remarkable progress in industry, trade and services. In particular, logistics plays an important role in promoting the circulation of goods, connecting production with domestic and foreign consumption markets. However, the problem of balancing transportation resources is still a big challenge when infrastructure and human resources have not met the demand and logistics development is not commensurate with the province's potential.

Logistics: The problem of balancing transportation resources Sky Group International Transport Joint Stock Company invests in a fleet of container trucks to be more proactive in coordinating goods during peak periods.

Thanh Hoa has a great advantage when it is located on the North-South economic corridor, owns Nghi Son seaport, the North-South railway, Tho Xuan Airport and the highway system connecting to Hanoi, Hai Phong, Nghe An... With these conditions, the province has the potential to develop into an important logistics center. However, in reality, the logistics infrastructure system has not yet developed synchronously. Nghi Son Port, although upgraded, has not yet been exploited at full capacity. Due to the lack of logistics support services such as international standard warehouses, modern packaging systems, and strong domestic container transportation services, many businesses still have to depend on Hai Phong Port to export goods. Transit through other ports not only increases logistics costs but also prolongs delivery times, affecting the competitiveness of local businesses. To solve the problem of balancing transportation resources, logistics businesses in Thanh Hoa are gradually finding ways to adapt and optimize their operations.

Ngoc Long Investment and Technical Services Joint Stock Company is one of the typical logistics enterprises in Thanh Hoa, specializing in providing services of consuming and distributing plastic pellets from Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant. Every month, the company exports hundreds of containers to markets in Asia, Europe and America. However, the company representative said that the dependence on seaport infrastructure is creating many challenges. Nghi Son Port, despite its great potential, has not been able to serve effectively due to the lack of supporting services such as international standard warehouses, professional packaging services and strong enough inland container transportation. Most of the goods still have to be transited through Hai Phong or Cat Lai Port, increasing transportation costs and extending delivery times. In addition, due to the large export demand, the company needs a stable number of container trucks to transport goods to the port, but the number of large-scale container transportation service providers in Thanh Hoa is limited. This causes transportation costs to increase, especially during peak times. To overcome this, the company is looking for solutions to cooperate with transport units in the region to have a stable source of container trucks, and is also researching the option of building a warehouse system near the port to reduce dependence on logistics centers in other provinces.

Not only facing difficulties with port infrastructure, logistics enterprises in Thanh Hoa also have to face the problem of connecting multimodal transport. Sky Group International Transport Joint Stock Company, which specializes in providing logistics services related to import and export, is having to find ways to optimize costs when the road system is still almost the only option for transporting goods from industrial parks to seaports or train stations. According to Ms. Le Thi Nhat Lam, General Director of the company, if the railway transport system is exploited more effectively, enterprises can significantly reduce transportation costs and increase flexibility in goods delivery. Currently, Sky Group is seeking to negotiate with railway transport partners to be able to implement a plan to combine rail and road transport, taking advantage of both methods. At the same time, the enterprise is also expanding investment in the container truck fleet to be more proactive in coordinating goods during peak periods.

In addition, human resources with logistics expertise have not yet met development needs. Sky Group has difficulty recruiting personnel with skills in supply chain management, warehouse management and modern logistics system operation. Most logistics workers in Thanh Hoa have not been properly trained, especially in applying technology in transportation and warehouse management. This forces businesses to invest heavily in internal training, increasing operating costs and affecting performance. To improve this problem, businesses are collaborating with a number of universities and training centers to develop specialized courses, and have policies to attract personnel from other provinces and cities to work.

In addition to self-adjusting to adapt to reality, logistics enterprises in Thanh Hoa are also promoting the application of technology in operations to optimize processes and reduce costs. Ngoc Long Investment and Technical Services Joint Stock Company has deployed a real-time transportation tracking system, helping to accurately monitor the delivery route of goods, thereby minimizing the risk of delays and optimizing transportation costs. Sky Group is also investing in a digital transportation connection platform, allowing businesses and partners to share information about vehicles, thereby increasing operational efficiency and reducing the situation of empty vehicles.

Despite many difficulties, the initiative of logistics enterprises in Thanh Hoa shows a positive direction in balancing transportation resources, helping to improve competitiveness and open up many development opportunities in the future.
