Exhibition of 150 documents and images evokes pride in the name of Quang Nam

On March 19, the Department of Home Affairs of Quang Nam province organized the exhibition “Quang Nam historical imprints through archival documents” at the Quang Nam Historical Archives Center. This event aims to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Quang Nam province (March 24, 1975 - March 24, 2025) and display more than 150 valuable documents and images, including the Nguyen Dynasty Woodblocks - World Documentary Heritage.

The exhibition is divided into three parts: historical milestones in the formation of Quang Nam province; the history of the revolutionary struggle of the people of the province; and the construction and development period from 1975 to the present. The event helps viewers better understand the history of the formation and development of Quang Nam, fostering national pride and a sense of responsibility in the work of building the homeland.

“The exhibition will help viewers have a clear view of the history and development of Quang Nam through the ages. Documents and images are collected from national archives, libraries, museums, and press agencies in and outside the province,” said the leader of the Quang Nam Department of Home Affairs.

Quang Nam is a land with a long history, rich in patriotic traditions and imbued with Vietnamese cultural identity. Over 550 years of formation and development, this place not only marks important historical periods but also fosters the spirit of patriotism and indomitable will of many generations.

The formation of Quang Nam province under the feudal period marked important steps in the history of the development of this land. From the initial names and administrative units such as phu, dinh, tran, to officially becoming a province in 1832 under the reign of King Minh Mang, Quang Nam province has constantly changed, developed and has always been a land of important strategic position.

During the French colonial period and the Republic of Vietnam period, Quang Nam province underwent many changes in administrative boundaries, mainly for the purpose of resource exploitation and population control. After 1975, Quang Nam was also divided and merged many times but still affirmed its important position in the overall development of the country.

Not only famous for its long-standing cultural traditions, Quang Nam is also a land of steadfastness in the cause of fighting and defending the Fatherland. National history records that, from the early days of the French colonialists' invasion until the country was completely unified in 1975, Quang Nam was always the leading province in the movement to fight against foreign invaders, such as: the Can Vuong Righteous Association Movement, the Duy Tan Movement and the anti-tax movement. Entering the resistance war against the US, with the victory of Nui Thanh and the creation of the "American Extermination Belt", Quang Nam was honored to receive the title "Quang Nam, brave and resilient, leading the way in destroying the US".

The exhibition is an opportunity for the young generation to learn, research, and arouse pride in the traditions of their heroic homeland.

After the war ended, the brave and resilient children of Quang Nam such as comrade Vo Chi Cong, hero Nguyen Van Troi, American-killing warrior Ho Thi Thu, heroic Vietnamese mother Nguyen Thi Thu and many other outstanding children became shining examples for the younger generation to follow.

After the liberation in 1975, together with the people of the whole country, the people of Quang Nam province entered a new phase, overcoming the consequences of war, restoring and developing the socio-economy. With the spirit of solidarity, innovation and creativity, Quang Nam province has gradually risen, affirming its position as one of the dynamically developing localities of the Central region.
