Attending the ceremony were Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thi Thanh Nga - Director of the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Climate Change; Dr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Dr. Le Ngoc Cau - Deputy Director of the Institute; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Thang, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Ngu, Prof. Tran Thuc - Former Director of the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Climate Change, along with representatives of the leaders of the agencies and units under the Ministry and all staff and employees at the Institute.
In her opening speech, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thi Thanh Nga said that since its establishment on December 14, 1982, the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Climate Change has been assigned to train 5 key majors including: Meteorology and Climatology, Hydrology, Oceanography, Natural Resources and Environmental Management, and Climate Change. From 2023, due to limited demand from students in Oceanography, the Institute will only have 4 training majors left.
Over the past time, thanks to the joint efforts and consensus of teachers, after 46 years of training and development, the Institute has trained 92 PhD students (of whom nearly 10 have been awarded the title of Professor or Associate Professor) and currently the Institute has 33 PhD students still researching and studying at the Institute.
These successes are thanks to the dedication and enthusiastic, responsible, and effective contributions of teachers inside and outside the Institute in the training of PhD students at the Institute.
Expressing her joy, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thi Thanh Nga emphasized that the PhDs trained by the Institute are all high-quality human resources, scientists with deep expertise in the fields of meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, environment... who have contributed to building the natural resources and environment sector as well as the overall development of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in a strong manner.
On the occasion of the Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thi Thanh Nga wishes teachers good health and continued contributions to the doctoral training career of the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Climate Change.
Expressing gratitude to the teachers at the Institute, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Thang - Former Director of the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Climate Change has worked at the Institute for more than 30 years in the functions and tasks of management, research, forecasting topics, etc. and he said that during his time working here, he feels proud because the Institute is making daily progress in both research and training of PhD students, largely thanks to the scientific and methodical teaching methods from the teachers at the Institute.
At the same time, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Thang affirmed once again that the PhDs trained at the Institute are all high-quality human resources. Many comrades who grew up from the cradle of "Institute of Hydrometeorology and Climate Change" have now become heads of units or are working at agencies inside and outside the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
The Institute was honored to welcome the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh to visit and work recently, which further demonstrates the great trust that the leaders of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment have for the Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Climate Change. From there, the Institute needs to develop a direction, focus more on investing in the process of teaching, training, and researching in the fields of meteorology, hydrology, storm and flood forecasting, etc. to contribute more to the natural resources and environment sector in particular and to the country in general.
The Gratitude Ceremony included awarding degrees to new PhDs and expressing gratitude to teachers of the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Climate Change.
At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Tran Thuc - Former Director of the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Climate Change advised the new PhDs in their upcoming research work: "If you want to have the right research method, remember the reason why you started!" At the same time, Prof. Dr. Tran Thuc congratulated the new PhDs for completing the training program and taking the first step to build research to serve the country as researchers and scientists specializing in hydrometeorology and environmental resources.
