Reading a speech at the ceremony, Mr. Le Quang Tung, Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee, said that General Doan Khue (alias Vo Tien Trinh) was born on October 29, 1923 in Gia Dang village, Trieu Tan commune (now Trieu Lang commune), Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province.
Born into a family with a rich tradition of patriotism and revolution in Gia Dang village, Trieu Lang commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province, General Doan Khue's father was the first communist of Gia Dang village. The General's family had 2 mothers who were awarded the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers; 9 siblings, 6 of whom were martyrs; 2 of his younger brothers were senior officers of the Vietnam People's Army.
A rare family, with many successive generations dedicating their lives to the Fatherland, to the cause of national liberation, leaving us with so much gratitude, emotion and admiration.
During 60 years of revolutionary activities, holding many positions, General Doan Khue always devoted all his spirit, energy and intelligence to the revolutionary cause, making great contributions to the struggle for national liberation, national reunification, building and firmly defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam and fulfilling international obligations.
