Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam awarded the title "Honorary Dong Khoi Citizen" to Prof. Dr. Vo Van Ha.

Professor, Doctor - Physician (GS.TS.BS) Vo Van Ha works at the Department of Medical Bioengineering at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia (USA). Through the connection of the Provincial BNN Sponsorship Association, the Mercer on Mission - Vietnam Volunteer Group, led by GS.TS.BS Vo Van Ha, has visited Ben Tre many times to organize programs to examine, treat bone and joint diseases and install prosthetic limbs for free for the poor and disabled in Ben Tre and some neighboring provinces.
From 2014 to before the Covid-19 pandemic, Prof. Dr. Ha and the Ben Tre Provincial Association for the Protection of PWDs organized 17 campaigns, fitted more than 1,700 prosthetic legs, more than 120 prosthetic arms, examined and treated bones and joints, and provided free medicine to more than 10,000 patients. In addition, the group also gave more than 2,700 gifts to the poor... The total funding for charity activities and treatment of bone and joint patients, and making prosthetic limbs for the disabled is now more than 22 billion VND.
In January 2023, the Provincial People's Committee issued a Decision on awarding the title of "Outstanding Dong Khoi Citizen" and "Honorary Dong Khoi Citizen" for the third time in 2023 to 10 individuals, of which, Prof. Dr. Vo Van Ha was one of two people awarded the title of "Honorary Dong Khoi Citizen". Due to being busy with work abroad, he did not return to the country to receive the title on the awarding occasion.
Recently, Prof. Dr. Vo Van Ha returned to Ben Tre to coordinate with the Association for the Protection of Rural Diseases to organize activities to examine, treat bone and joint diseases and install prosthetic limbs for free for the poor and disabled in the province. On this occasion, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province solemnly held a ceremony to award him the title of "Honorary Dong Khoi Citizen".

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam stated that this is considered the most noble title of the province for Ben Tre's children (Outstanding Dong Khoi Citizens) and also for those who are not Ben Tre's children outside the province and abroad who have made many contributions to the construction and development of Ben Tre's homeland (Honorary Dong Khoi Citizens). This is the province's policy to honor and recognize the contributions of Ben Tre's children, especially those outside the province and abroad who have made many contributions to the construction and development of Ben Tre province.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam congratulated and expressed gratitude for the contributions of Prof. Dr. Vo Van Ha to Ben Tre province in the past time. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that in the coming time, Prof. Dr. Vo Van Ha will continue to accompany the province in activities aiming at good things for the people of Ben Tre and for the common development of the province, as well as expanding activities for the Vietnamese people (especially people with disabilities) to enjoy.

Prof. Dr. Vo Van Ha also expressed his emotion, honor and appreciation for the recognition and honor that the province has given him. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Ha also donated the entire bonus of 20 million VND to the Association for the Protection of Agricultural Diseases to contribute to the Association's activities. The Association's leaders also presented a letter of thanks to Prof. Dr. Vo Van Ha in recognition of his noble gesture.
