In recent times, the voluntary blood donation movement in Vinh Linh district has achieved many important results. In 2024 alone, the whole district had 2,300 volunteers participating in voluntary blood donation, collecting more than 1,900 units of blood, reaching 171% of the target assigned by the province. Of which, 1,038 people donated 250 ml of blood, reaching 52.43%; 942 people donated 350 ml of blood, reaching 47.57%.

The Spring Festival in early 2025 alone collected 404 units of blood, exceeding the set plan, of which 237 people donated 350 ml of blood (reaching 58.66%).

Talking to us, Chairman of Vinh Linh District Red Cross Society Tran Quoc Toan said: “To effectively implement the voluntary blood donation movement, every year, we allocate specific targets to agencies, departments, branches, and organizations... At the same time, we promote propaganda work in many forms. The Steering Committee for the voluntary blood donation movement in the district is always proactive in implementing tasks, creating an exciting atmosphere for cadres, members, volunteers, and people to participate in voluntary blood donation.”

Blood donation is a humanitarian activity with profound humanity, therefore every year the Steering Committee for Blood Donation at all levels has focused on developing action plans to respond to major campaigns, programs and events of the year such as: "Spring Festival", "Summer Blood Drops"; "National Blood Donor Day" on April 7, "International Blood Donor Day" on June 14; "Red Journey" program.

Coordinate with the Hematology - Blood Transfusion Center of Hue Central Hospital, the Provincial General Hospital prepares sufficient human resources, means and equipment to ensure good service for blood donation campaigns. Update the status of blood reception and demand to proactively advise, guide and direct assigned units, maintain well the concentrated blood donation campaigns to meet the amount of blood for emergency and patient treatment. Timely adjust the blood donation schedule according to the plan to ensure suitability for each time.

Along with strengthening and perfecting the Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation at all levels, the province has focused on developing voluntary blood donation organizing forces. In 2024, a new voluntary blood donation club was established in Gio Linh district with 15 members, increasing the number of voluntary blood donation clubs to 12 with 730 members, an increase of more than 15 members compared to 2023. The clubs have strengthened voluntary blood donation mobilization work, organized propaganda activities in the community and participated in donating hundreds of units of blood to emergency patients at medical facilities.

The work of propagating and mobilizing the movement for voluntary blood donation has been carried out by the Steering Committees at all levels from the province to the grassroots level and by departments, branches, organizations, armed forces, and schools in many diverse and rich forms.

The content and methods of propaganda are always innovated to improve the quality and effectiveness of propaganda. In addition, the work of honoring and rewarding individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in voluntary blood donation and voluntary blood donation activities is well implemented to encourage and promote voluntary blood donation emulation movements. The work of inspecting and supervising voluntary blood donation activities is integrated into the inspections of the association's work at the end of the year.

Thanks to that, in 2024, the whole province had 11,200 people registered to donate blood, receiving 10,854 units of blood, reaching 103% of the plan, equivalent to 1.66% of the population donating blood. The total number of converted blood units was 11,865 units of blood, reaching 113% of the plan.

In the first quarter of 2025 alone, 8 blood donation campaigns were organized at Quang Tri Electricity Company, Provincial Police, Health Sector Union, Gio Linh, Huong Hoa, Hai Lang districts and Dong Ha city... collecting 2,257 units of blood. In coordination with the Provincial General Hospital, 3 emergency blood donation campaigns were organized, receiving 241 units of blood.

Blood is a priceless source of life for every human being. Blood donation is a beautiful act with profound humanitarian meaning, a noble gesture between people in the community. With the message "A drop of blood given, a life saved", in 2025, blood donation activities will continue to be implemented, the whole province strives to mobilize and receive 11,100 units of blood, equivalent to 1.73% of the population; 70% of repeat blood donors; 100% of blood donation rate.

Blood donation with a volume of 350ml reached 30% or more. To achieve the set goals, the province will strengthen leadership, direction, improve mechanisms and policies to improve the effectiveness of blood donation mobilization work... The Provincial Red Cross Society proactively presides over and coordinates with departments, branches, sectors, unions, district-level Steering Committees, schools, armed forces, and related units to monitor, urge, and develop plans to effectively implement the contents, goals, and targets of blood mobilization and reception in 2025.

At the same time, strengthen the development of blood donation and voluntary blood donation clubs. Implement well the management and support of various types of voluntary blood donation clubs, maintain the number of voluntary blood donors and mobilize them to be increasingly sustainable throughout the province, through the establishment, maintenance and expansion of voluntary blood donation club models to create a reserve blood source, ready to donate blood when required.

Continue to improve and develop blood donation clubs in the province, periodically organize meetings, exchange and share experiences between the club's management boards. Provide training to improve voluntary blood donation mobilization skills for club members. Strengthen propaganda and voluntary blood donation mobilization activities, ensure blood supply for emergency and treatment in the area.

Timely honor and reward individuals, families and groups with outstanding achievements in voluntary participation and voluntary participation activities every year. At the same time, seriously review units that do not meet targets, in order to gain experience and perform better in the future.
