Portrait of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Dinh made from Dried lotus leaves originate from the desire to show gratitude and preserve the beautiful images of Vietnamese women of the members of the Women's Club with Cultural Heritage and the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club.

The work is part of the collection Lotus in Vietnamese cultural life by Asian record holder Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, made by artisan Le Van Nghia (Lap Vo district, Dong Thap province) in 3 months.

The painting was presented to the Vietnam Women's Museum, contributing to diversifying the types of artifacts in the collection of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Dinh. From there, it continues to carry out the mission of propagating and educating the younger generation about the history and noble traditions of Vietnamese women.

Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam shared that she had the chance to meet female general Nguyen Thi Dinh in 1984, when her younger sister worked as a driver for Miss Ba Dinh. That woman left a great impression and sympathy on the artist. She chose her favorite portrait of Miss Ba Dinh for the artist to execute according to her idea.

“When I received the painting made from lotus leaves, I was extremely moved, especially when the work captured the spirit of a female general, strong yet extremely kind,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam emphasized.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Dinh (1920-1992) was an outstanding daughter of her homeland Dong Khoi Ben Tre. She was often affectionately called Miss Ba Dinh. Miss Ba Dinh joined the revolution when she was only 16 years old and was honored to join the Party when she turned 18.
During her years of revolutionary activities, she faced and overcame many losses when her family was separated, she had to leave her children when they were still very young; her husband was captured and sacrificed. With extraordinary will and determination, she and her comrades overcame countless difficulties, achieving feats that terrified the enemy.
She participated in the Viet Minh Front, the August 1945 General Uprising, led the uprising to seize power in Ben Tre province and the Dong Khoi movement.
Her name is not only associated with Dong Khoi, the Long-haired Army, noble titles, and important responsibilities such as Major General, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Liberation Army of South Vietnam, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the State Council... but also with the women's movement and the work of the Vietnam Women's Union in the position of President of the Union.
