On September 10, Bao Phuong Vinh and Tran Quyet Chien created a historic milestone for Vietnamese billiards by creating the first internal final match in the most prestigious 3-cushion carom tournament on the planet. Then, young player Bao Phuong Vinh won. Immediately after returning from Türkiye, both continued to participate in the HBSF Cup Tour 3 in 2023 and promised to continue to have another final match after only 1 week.
World champion Bao Phuong Vinh is in very good form.
Both Bao Phuong Vinh and Tran Quyet Chien are demonstrating their best form. In round 128, the world champion defeated Truong Nhat Phuong with an impressive score of 30-3 after only 7 turns and achieved a scoring efficiency of up to 4,286 points/turn to become a strong candidate for the "Best Game" award. This is an efficiency that even the world's top players can rarely produce in a tournament.
Meanwhile, player Tran Quyet Chien also had a match with an efficiency of 4 points/turn in the confrontation with Thon Viet Hoang Minh. However, to be able to meet in the final match, both Bao Phuong Vinh and Tran Quyet Chien had to overcome the quarter-final round which was considered quite "hard".
Tran Quyet Chien is still a very strong player of 3-cushion carom.
In the quarter-finals, Tran Quyet Chien will meet the reigning SEA Games 32 champion Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu (ranked 62nd in the world), who defeated Tony Tran (nicknamed Tran Quyet Chien) in the final of the HBSF Cup Tour 2 in 2023. Bao Phuong Vinh's opponent will be Tran Thanh Luc (ranked 35th in the world), who played impressively at the Porto World Cup last July. In the remaining two quarter-finals, Nguyen Bui Dang Vinh will face Le Van Thai and Dinh Quang Hai will face Van Hoang Ba.
The quarter-finals of the 2023 HBSF Cup Tour 3 will take place at 9am today, September 17. The two semi-finals will be contested at 12pm and then the final at 3pm. The champion will receive 50 million VND in prize money and the runner-up will receive 20 million VND.
