Actively transforming the structure of crops and livestock, selecting and building suitable agricultural and forestry economic models that bring high economic value and sustainable development are solutions that have been implemented by Tram Than commune, Phu Ninh district. Thereby, not only increasing income but also contributing to sustainable poverty reduction for people, creating a solid foundation in building advanced new rural areas.
The nursery of Mr. Tran Trong Hieu's family in Zone 1, Tram Than Commune produces nearly 1 million seedlings of all kinds each year, with an average income of over 100 million VND/year.
Taking agriculture as the foundation for economic development, the Party Committee and the commune government have built plans and re-planned production areas with the goal of developing in the direction of goods. At the same time, they have focused resources on building infrastructure to serve production; actively transforming the structure of crops and livestock, and introducing high-quality plant and animal varieties into production. Taking advantage of the large hills and fields, the commune encourages households to promote livestock farming, shifting livestock farming towards increasing the scale of livestock and poultry. Currently, the whole commune has a total herd of nearly 200 buffaloes and cows, over 6,000 pigs and nearly 60,000 poultry and waterfowl... creating a stable source of income for households. In addition, the commune focuses on developing tea trees with over 90 hectares for an average yield of 50-60 quintals/ha.
In particular, the commune's nursery production has brought about clear economic efficiency and created jobs for farmers. The main types of trees grown are eucalyptus, acacia, lat, xoan, fat, bodhi, cinnamon, etc. The whole commune has more than 200 households working in nurseries, each household annually sells an average of one million seedlings of all kinds, creating regular jobs for about 4-5 workers, with an income of 4-5 million VND/month. Mr. Tran Trong Hieu - Owner of Hieu Linh Nursery specializing in the production and trading of seedlings in Zone 1 said: "Realizing the increasing demand for forestry seedlings in the locality and neighboring localities, my wife and I borrowed from the Social Policy Bank to build a forestry nursery. Researching and learning from many practical models in the commune and scientific and technical documents, up to now, our family's nursery has generated an income of over 100 million VND/year".
The seedling nursery industry is developing strongly and is bringing stable income to households in Tram Than commune.
Every year, the People's Committee of Tram Than commune actively coordinates with the functional agencies of the district and province to organize training courses on science and technology transfer; organize consultation sessions, introduce and orient career paths for people; propagate for people to regularly monitor and update information on new policies of the Party and State and effective production models. At the same time, create conditions for people to access preferential loans to develop sustainable economic models.
In addition, the commune always pays attention to creating favorable conditions for enterprises inside and outside the commune to invest in production and business in the area with the main industries: Mechanics, wood production, civil carpentry, garment, construction... The whole commune currently has over 200 workers with regular jobs, participating in the fields of industrial production, small-scale industry, trade and services.
Thanks to the application of creative solutions in economic restructuring, exploiting local strengths, and promoting commodity production, the material and spiritual life of people in the commune has gradually improved; the average income currently reaches nearly 52 million VND/person/year.
Comrade Le The Cuong - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said: "With the efforts of the Party Committee, the government and the solidarity of the people, the poverty rate of the commune has continuously decreased every year. Up to now, the poverty rate of the commune is 0.9%. In the coming time, Tram Than will continue to mobilize all resources, effectively implement policies to support people; promote propaganda work, arouse the spirit of patriotic emulation, actively work, be creative, develop family economy; contribute to the successful implementation of the local sustainable poverty reduction goal".
