Tra Vinh's economic growth ranks first in the Mekong Delta.
In 2024, Tra Vinh province's GRDP growth is estimated to reach 10.04%, exceeding the target set in the Resolution of the Tra Vinh Provincial Party Committee. This is the year Tra Vinh has the highest growth rate, ranking first in the Mekong Delta.

Many excellent economic indicators achieved and exceeded the set plan.
The Resolution of Tra Vinh Provincial Party Committee set the target of GRDP growth of the province in 2024 at 8.5%. As a result, Tra Vinh province "reached the finish line" with an estimated growth rate of 10.04%, exceeding the target, ranking first in the Mekong Delta region and 8th in the country. Notably, it effectively implemented 6 key tasks, 3 breakthrough tasks; 3 National Target Programs and Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP of the Government.
Regarding the 6 key tasks, the province has focused on implementing the contents concluded by the Prime Minister at the working session with the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee; directed the acceleration of central investment projects in the area; completed compensation, support, resettlement and started the implementation of the Freshwater Reservoir Infrastructure Project along the Lang The River (Phase I); completed the handover of the site for the construction of Dai Ngai Bridge.
Tra Vinh province is determined to streamline the apparatus, build a creative administration to effectively serve the people and businesses, continue to innovate the growth model, shift the economic structure, labor structure to industry, trade and services; improve productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the economy. Continue to implement Resolution No. 10-NQ/TW, dated June 3, 2017, the 5th Conference, the 12th Party Central Committee on developing the private economy into an important driving force of the socialist-oriented market economy.
Quickly and effectively deploy the Plan to implement the Tra Vinh Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, Program No. 34-CTr/TU dated August 23, 2022 implementing Resolution No. 13-NQ/TW dated April 2, 2020 of the Politburo. Focus on implementing the Project on Developing the Marine Economy and Night-time Economy of Tra Vinh Province to 2030.

In addition, the province continues to direct the acceleration of investment projects to develop the marine economy, focusing on renewable energy projects, investing in some additional infrastructure traffic items of Dinh An Economic Zone; continuing to implement 4 wind power projects; focusing on calling for investment in wind power projects according to Power Plan VIII; continuing to coordinate to support green hydrogen projects, oil and gas depot projects (Long Duc, Tan Son); completing the dossier of coastal corridor routes, Co Chien 2 bridge and some other important traffic projects...
The province has established concentrated production areas for key crops, replicated a number of effective production models; promoted the transformation and restructuring of the agricultural sector towards adapting to climate change and market developments. The area of coconut gardens and fruit gardens continues to be invested in new planting and renovation in a concentrated and specialized direction. Tra Vinh has completed the dossier, submitted to the Central Government for consideration and recognition of Tra Vinh province for completing the task of building new rural areas in 2024.
In recent times, Tra Vinh has actively implemented the National Strategy on attracting and employing talents until 2030, with a vision to 2050, to attract and improve the quality of human resources in key and spearhead sectors and fields of the province. The quality of human resources in the political system, science and technology human resources, and human resources in enterprises has been gradually improved.
The province focused on leading and directing drastic measures and solutions to improve the scores and rankings of the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI), Provincial Green Index (PGI), Provincial Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI), Administrative Service Satisfaction Index (SIPAS), Information and Communications Technology Development Index (ICT Index), and Administrative Reform Index (PAR Index). As a result, Tra Vinh's PCI, SIPAS, and PAR Index all increased in score and rank compared to the previous year.
Tra Vinh's PAR Index increased by 2 ranks, ranking 48th nationwide and 7/13 in the Mekong Delta region. SIPAS increased by 4 ranks, ranking 15th nationwide and 2nd in the region. PCI increased by 2 ranks, ranking 24th nationwide and 7th in the region, being one of the 30 provinces and cities with the best governance quality. PGI alone ranked 13th out of 63 provinces and cities, down 12 ranks, and PAPI dropped by 6 ranks, ranking 54th nationwide and 11/13 provinces and cities in the region.
Up to now, Tra Vinh has built and handed over 1,300 houses to the poor and those with housing difficulties in the province (supported by the Ministry of Public Security), contributing to the implementation of the policy of great national unity and the movement of the whole people to protect national security.
Regarding the results of implementing the three breakthrough tasks, the province has allocated reasonable capital for infrastructure development investment, creating momentum for socio-economic development; focused on investing in breakthrough irrigation and transportation works; supported investors to accelerate the construction progress of technical infrastructure of Hiep My Tay industrial cluster and Tan Ngai industrial cluster; invested in upgrading and expanding information technology infrastructure to meet the requirements of rapid implementation of e-government, creating momentum to promote digital government, digital economy, and digital society.
The province also continues to lead the improvement of the quality and effectiveness of administrative reform; focuses on reviewing and compiling statistics on land use rights auctions in accordance with regulations to mobilize investment resources for socio-economic development.
Regarding the implementation results of the 3 National Target Programs, the total capital plan for 2024 (public investment capital) to implement the 3 programs is 236,986 billion VND, estimated to disburse 98% of the plan by January 31, 2025.
Promoting regional connectivity, developing economic zones, industrial parks and urban areas
In 2024, Tra Vinh organized a working delegation of the Provincial Party Standing Committee to visit and work in Thai Binh province to connect and call for investment promotion; attend regional development linkage conferences. Departments and branches have well organized and implemented regional linkage activities in each field, such as linking to promote investment calling, implementing regional linkage planning, organizing supply - demand connection of goods, linking e-commerce platforms, stabilizing the market; paying attention to cooperation, building regional and inter-regional linkage projects...
Regarding urban development, the province has implemented the Housing Development Program of Tra Vinh province to 2025, with a vision to 2030; paying attention to developing and managing urban housing planning and architecture well, ensuring aesthetics. The province also focuses on investing in supporting the completion of construction criteria for Tra Vinh city, Duyen Hai town, expanded Tieu Can town, Cau Ngang, Cang Long; completing the adjustment of urban administrative boundaries, establishing wards and towns.
In 2024, the province organized an appraisal and recognized Duyen Hai town as meeting the criteria for a type IV urban area; focused on investing and improving the quality of urban embellishment. By the end of the year, the urbanization rate reached 33% (exceeding the target set in the Resolution of the Provincial Party Committee). The whole province has 13 urban areas, including 1 type II city, 2 type IV urban areas and 10 type V urban areas; the total urban area is 369.95 km2, accounting for 15.47% of the whole province's area.
Regarding the development of economic zones, industrial parks (IPs), and industrial clusters, the province has 3 IPs, of which Long Duc IP has been 100% filled; continuing to implement compensation and resettlement support to hand over land to investors to invest in construction and business of infrastructure of Co Chien IP; submitting to the Prime Minister for decision on investment policy of Cau Quan IP; completing and putting into use route No. 05 - Dinh An IP, adjusting the general planning for construction of Dinh An IP until 2040. In addition, the province is investing in the construction of technical infrastructure of Hiep My Tay Industrial Cluster and putting into operation a pharmaceutical factory in Tan Ngai.
The province has completed and submitted to the Prime Minister for approval the Plan to implement the Tra Vinh Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050; 100% of district construction planning has been approved according to regulations; completed the establishment and appraisal of construction planning and urban planning to ensure quality; accelerated the completion of approved plans.
Towards a dynamic, high quality and efficient economy
In 2025, Tra Vinh sets out 23 main socio-economic development targets. Of which, GRDP reaches 7 - 7.5%; GRDP per capita reaches 101 million VND/person/year; the proportion of industry, construction, services, and product taxes in GRDP reaches 73.91%. Strive for total social development investment capital to reach 32,000 billion VND; develop 520 new enterprises; the rate of trained workers reaches 69.67%; create additional jobs for 23,000 workers; the health insurance coverage rate compared to the population reaches 95.1%, the poverty rate decreases by 0.15%...
Tra Vinh strives for an economic scale (at current prices) of VND 103,523 billion, mobilizing total social investment capital accounting for about 30.9% of GRDP. Total state budget revenue reaches about VND 14,971 billion and total local budget expenditure is VND 13,288 billion.
Aiming for a dynamic, high-quality and efficient economy, focusing on improving the quality of management, investment environment, promoting the development of agriculture, industry, trade - services, improving productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the economy, Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee Le Van Han requested departments, branches and localities, based on assigned targets and tasks, to proactively develop plans suitable to the situation of the unit, striving to achieve and exceed the assigned plan targets in 2025. At the same time, focus on disbursing public investment capital, national target programs; complete documents, accelerate site clearance for works and projects, especially key works.
Tra Vinh continues to develop agricultural production, marine economy, promote and exploit potential areas, especially in aquaculture. Energy industry, processing, manufacturing, handicrafts, trade, services, and tourism have many advantages for development. The remaining wind power projects will be completed and put into operation soon, which will make a positive contribution to the province. The organization and implementation of the Mekong Delta Regional Planning, Provincial Planning, and the acceleration of construction progress of projects to welcome the Party Congress, Dai Ngai Bridge, etc. will create great attraction for the economy. Culture and society continue to be stable; national defense is consolidated, political security, social order and safety are ensured, creating a premise to attract investment.
