From here, people who want to go to Long An province have 2 options: follow the road down to the Vam Co Dong river, cross the ferry to Loc Giang commune (Duc Hoa district, Long An province); or take the road to Duong Xuong bridge to go down to Duc Hue district, Long An province.
However, both of these routes are narrow, serving only travel and transporting goods by small-tonnage vehicles. This affects the transport of goods and trade between people in the two regions.
Ms. Vo Thi Be, a resident of Phuoc Chi commune, Trang Bang town, said that if in the future the State considers investing in a bridge across the Vam Co Dong river to replace the Loc Giang ferry, as well as investing in a new road connecting An Thanh - Tra Cao road with Long An province, this would be a good thing for the people of Phuoc Chi commune in particular and Trang Bang town in general.
Although transportation is now more convenient, "crossing the river depends on the ferry" and has some limitations such as having to wait for the ferry, heavy trucks cannot use the ferry; following Duong Xuong bridge through Truong Dau area to Duc Hue district, Long An province also limits heavy trucks from circulating due to the narrow road.
According to the Department of Construction, the An Thanh - Tra Cao route connecting with Highway 838 (Duc Hue district, Long An province) has only been planned, the Department of Construction of Tay Ninh province and the Department of Construction of Long An province have not discussed this issue.
The province’s medium-term public investment plan for the period 2026-2030 does not include this project. Currently, the province has only one project being implemented to connect Tay Ninh and Long An, which is the Ho Chi Minh Road project (Chon Thanh – Duc Hoa section) invested by the Ministry of Construction.
