According to the reporter's records, from mid-November 2023 until now, at the points receiving TCTN application documents, many people have gathered and lined up waiting for their turn to submit their application.
Looking at the signboard for entering information to receive unemployment benefits at the Unemployment Insurance (UI) branch in District 12, Mr. Nguyen Van Th. (30 years old, District 12) said that this was the first time he submitted an application to receive unemployment benefits.
Mr. Th. shared that he used to work for a wood company in District 12. But since the beginning of the year, the company has continuously had no orders, so it has cut down on its workforce one after another. Recently, because it was no longer able to operate, the company temporarily closed and laid off its workers. Therefore, Mr. Th. became unemployed.
Over the past few months, Mr. Th. has also asked friends to look for and introduce jobs, but near the end of the year, there are no new jobs available. To have money to cover living expenses while waiting to find a new job, Mr. Th. has applied for unemployment benefits.
Similar to Mr. Th., at the Social Insurance branches, many workers are lining up to wait their turn to complete the procedures to receive unemployment benefits.

To introduce jobs to unemployed workers as well as promptly connect labor supply and demand at the end of the year, the Ho Chi Minh City Employment Service Center will focus on job counseling and resolving unemployment benefits for workers to help them maintain their daily lives.
At the same time, the center also provides career counseling to unemployed workers to help them learn a trade and find new jobs that meet the needs of the labor market.
Businesses are "thirsty" for labor at the end of the year
On the afternoon of November 29, talking to Dan Sinh reporter about the year-end labor market in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the southern provinces and cities in general, Mr. Trung - representative of a labor supply company in Ho Chi Minh City said that from now until the end of 2023, businesses will place orders for his company to recruit a large number of unskilled workers (each company from 300 - 1,000 workers), with salaries from 7 - 12 million VND/month.
The sectors that recruit a lot of workers are mainly production and trading of goods serving the Lunar New Year 2024, such as: Garment, footwear, wooden furniture, confectionery production, electronics, restaurant and hotel services, etc.
“Although businesses are ‘thirsty’ for unskilled labor, workers do not want to apply at this stage. Partly because they want to work seasonally to return home early, most workers are afraid of changing jobs at the end of the year and do not want to change their working environment to a different field from their previous job,” Trung analyzed.
