On September 13, the Ho Chi Minh City Association of the Elderly (ECA) held a conference to honor outstanding ECAs in Ho Chi Minh City for the period 2018 - 2023.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, said: Under the leadership of the Party, the elderly have made many important contributions, just as Uncle Ho said: "The older you are, the stronger your will is". The elderly in our country are truly "a precious asset of the nation, an important force of the country, and the pillars of Vietnamese families and society".

Regarding the movement “Elderly people doing good business”, according to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, it not only has economic, spiritual, will and good humanistic values, but also promotes the role and position of the elderly in educating their children and grandchildren to be independent, diligent and hard-working in production and labor, striving to become rich legitimately. From there, it contributes to improving the quality of life of members and building a strong association.
“We are pleased to see that, thanks to the attention and close direction of the Party Committees and Government at all levels, the coordination of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City, departments, branches and sectors, and the dynamism and creativity of the association organizations and members of the movement of the elderly doing good business in the city, important results have been achieved. On behalf of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, I highly appreciate the achievements and results that the Association of the Elderly at all levels in the city has achieved in the emulation movement of doing good business in the past time,” said Mr. Binh.
The President of the Central Committee of the Association also emphasized and clarified a number of tasks in the coming time. Accordingly, it is necessary to continue to build a strong and comprehensive association organization at all levels. Actively coordinate closely with relevant agencies to thoroughly review the organizational structure, continue to arrange and perfect the staff of the association at all levels. Pay attention to the work of gathering and developing members into the association organization to achieve the highest quantity and quality.
Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Ngo Minh Chau, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee affirmed: "The city's development in recent times has had important contributions from the City's Elderly Association. The City highly appreciates the achievements of all levels of associations, members, and the elderly in the Movement of Elderly People Doing Good Business".
On behalf of the City People's Committee, Vice Chairman Ngo Minh Chau congratulated 5,386 elderly people with good economic performance, especially commended 37 elderly people who met the city-level standards for good economic performance present at today's conference.

On this occasion, Vice Chairman Ngo Minh Chau also requested the City Elderly Association's Representative Board to carry out a number of key tasks to continue developing the "Elderly people doing good business" Movement and the city's elderly work. It is necessary to promote propaganda work; closely coordinate with functional agencies and organizations; encourage the elderly, within their capacity, to continue to contribute their strength, intelligence and experience to participate in economic activities, contributing to the construction and development of the city. Continue to affirm, praise, and replicate achievements, typical examples of elderly people doing good business, learning, sharing, and supporting each other to develop together.
At the conference, the Organizing Committee commended individuals with achievements in the 4th "Elderly people doing good business" Movement, period 2018 - 2023. Of which, 20 elderly people were awarded Certificates of Merit by the City People's Committee; the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City awarded certificates of merit to 17 elderly people; the Representative Board of the Ho Chi Minh City Elderly Association granted certificates to 37 individuals.
According to the report of the City Elderly Association Representative Board, the 4th Summary of the "Elderly people doing good business" Movement, in 5 years (2018 - 2023) in Ho Chi Minh City, the Elderly Association at all levels reviewed and commended 5,386 outstanding elderly people doing good business, of which: wards, communes, towns are 4,415 people; districts, towns and Thu Duc City are 999 people; at the same time, 50 elderly people were identified as meeting the standards of good business at the city level, and 6 elderly people were introduced to the Central Government for commendation.
