The model was piloted in Vinh Lam commune, Vinh Linh district with a scale of 29 hectares. Through the implementation of the model, initial evaluation showed that with the application of the alternating flood and dry irrigation process, the rice plants grew well, were healthy, and had fewer pests and diseases than the control field.
At the same time, raise awareness among authorities and farmers to implement solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in rice production, open up new directions, and increase farmers' income through creating carbon credits in rice production.
It is known that the project "Alternate wetting and drying in rice cultivation to adapt to climate change" is expected to be implemented within 10 years, from 2024 to 2034. The pilot will be implemented from January 2025 to December 2025. Deployed in provinces and cities in the North Central region, the North, some provinces in the South Central region and the South.
This will promote sustainable rice cultivation, increase economic value associated with the rice brand that reduces emissions, thereby increasing income for rice farmers.
