On the afternoon of December 25, Ha Long city held a ceremony to posthumously award the noble state title "Heroic Vietnamese Mother" to mother Pham Thi At, with the family representative being Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, residing in Zone 4, Ha Khau Ward, Ha Long City.
Mother Pham Thi At was born in 1915, born and raised in Tuan Chau ward, Ha Long city. She had 2 sons and 2 daughters. During the nation's resistance war against the US, both of her sons were sacrificed. The posthumous award of the title "Heroic Vietnamese Mother" to mother Pham Thi At shows respect for the losses and sacrifices of the mother who dedicated her two outstanding children to the Fatherland to protect national independence.
According to Decree No. 56/2013/ND-CP dated May 22, 2013 of the Government, from 2013 to present, Ha Long city has completed the dossier to request the President to sign the decision to confer the title of Vietnamese Heroic Mother to 9 mothers and posthumously confer the title to 36 mothers. Up to now, Ha Long city has a total of 63 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, of which only 4 mothers are still alive.
Over the years, the Party Committee, Government and people of all ethnic groups in Ha Long City have always and continue to well implement policies for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution; pay attention to solving outstanding issues in resolving policies and regimes, researching and proposing to remove difficulties, obstacles and shortcomings in the implementation process; create favorable conditions for people with meritorious services to fully, accurately and promptly enjoy preferential policies of the State.
In the coming time, the city will continue to promote the movement of "Repaying gratitude", mobilizing resources to gradually improve and enhance the material and spiritual life of Vietnamese heroic mothers, war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution through activities to support the establishment of the "Repaying gratitude" fund. Through specific actions and deeds to encourage, share, help and create conditions for policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services to strive to overcome difficulties, rise up in life to truly become model citizens, exemplary revolutionary families. Continue to implement more practical and effective activities to remember the merits and show filial piety to war invalids, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services.
