Steel prices today, April 14, 2025, in the domestic market.
Steel prices in Vietnam on April 14, 2025, are showing remarkable stability, despite fluctuations in the global steel market. Based on the latest data, steel prices in the three regions of North, Central, and South Vietnam have only fluctuated slightly, reflecting the efforts of domestic businesses to balance costs and market demand. This stability is significant for the construction and real estate sectors, which heavily rely on a supply of quality steel.
In the North, on April 14, 2025, the price of CB240 (D6, D8) steel coils reached 13,550 VND/kg, while D10 CB300 ribbed steel bars recorded 13,600 VND/kg, a slight increase to 13,750 VND/kg for CB500 grade. The Central region had similar prices, with D10 CB300 steel reaching 13,650 VND/kg, 50 VND/kg higher than the North, but the price of D12 and above steel remained consistent at 13,450-13,550 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the South recorded the highest prices, with D10 CB300 steel reaching 13,750 VND/kg and CB500 reaching 13,850 VND/kg. The small price difference between regions, usually only 50-100 VND/kg, indicates that the domestic steel market is maintaining a state of equilibrium, without major fluctuations.
The steel price trend on April 14, 2025 reflects a resilient domestic market in the face of external pressure. Compared to the global market, where rebar prices on the Shanghai Exchange fell to their lowest level in eight years (around 3,009 yuan/ton), Vietnamese steel prices remain stable at a reasonable level. This is partly due to trade protection policies, such as anti-dumping duties on steel imported from China, which help protect domestic businesses. However, current prices are significantly lower than the peak in 2021, when steel reached 16,000 VND/kg, indicating that competitive pressure from cheap imported steel still exists.
The steel price changes on April 14, 2025, also bring positive signals for the construction industry. With stable steel prices, infrastructure and real estate projects in the South, where steel demand is highest, can maintain progress without worrying about sudden cost increases. At the same time, the clear price differentiation between CB300, CB400, and CB500 steel grades (increasing by 50-150 VND/kg) makes it easier for contractors to choose the type of steel that suits their technical requirements and budget. However, domestic steel businesses need to be wary of the risk of oversupply from China, especially as global trade policies, such as the US's 125% tariff increase on Chinese goods, could lead to a flood of cheap steel into other markets, including Vietnam.
Overall, steel prices on April 14, 2025, reflect a stable yet challenging market picture. The steadfastness of Vietnamese businesses in maintaining reasonable prices is an optimistic sign, but they need to continue optimizing costs and improving quality to compete with imported steel. For contractors and investors, this is an ideal time to plan steel purchases, taking advantage of stable prices before the market may experience further fluctuations from international factors. With support from public investment policies and the recovery of the real estate sector, the Vietnamese steel industry has the opportunity to maintain its growth momentum in the coming period, provided that businesses know how to seize opportunities and overcome challenges.

Steel prices today, April 14, 2025, on the world market.
Today's steel prices (April 14, 2025) show a contrasting trend between domestic and international markets. While steel prices in Vietnam remain stable, global steel prices have fallen sharply. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, May delivery rebar is only around 3,009 yuan per ton, the lowest level in eight years. Similarly, iron ore on the Dalian Commodity Exchange has also dropped to 731 yuan per ton.
Conversely, iron ore prices on the Singapore Exchange rose slightly to $94.78 per ton, indicating market divergence. This keeps investors cautious, especially given the unpredictable nature of global trade policies.
In particular, US President Donald Trump has just decided to increase import tariffs from China to 125%, but postponed the tariffs for 90 days for more than 75 countries and reduced retaliatory tariffs to 10%. This decision could disrupt the steel supply chain, especially in Asian countries that depend on Chinese raw materials.
