According to Toyota's announcement on June 14, the company initially decided to stop producing some car models until June 28, however, Toyota's internal investigation and the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism into this scandal have not yet ended.
Earlier this month, Toyota was found to have falsified performance tests to gain government certification for its vehicles.
Following an order from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to temporarily suspend deliveries of affected models, Toyota has decided to temporarily halt production of three models, including the Yaris Cross, at its plants in Miyagi and Iwate prefectures.
The suspension came after the ministry revealed that five major Japanese automakers -- Toyota, Honda Motor, Mazda, Yamaha Motor and Suzuki Motor -- were involved in fraudulent practices in the process of obtaining mass production certification.
Transport Ministry officials conducted on-site inspections at Toyota, Mazda, Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki regarding the violation.
